Short Circuiting Hi, when i am listing to my iriver h340 40 gig all of the sudden it shuts off, when i turn it on again it says low battery and turns off even when i have charged the battery all night and i have full power!
Hi I purchased a H£40 player three years ago and it was working fine for a good year and I really got to like ny iriver. I got a link to upgrade my firmware to the newest version via a Korean like It worked well and enabled me to run video files which it did not do before the upgrade. But shortly after I got the same problem you mention. Whether the battery got a drain upon needing to run video files maybe it was too much strain on the battery. But if you or anyonlse has an answer to this do let me know I may need a new battery. cheers Touchwood1064Hi I purchased a H£40 player three years ago and it was working fine for a good year and I really got to like ny iriver. My H340 charges very, very slow (needs about a week), wether I use the original firmware or rockbox which was running fine for over 2 years. Replacing the battery did not help. I will go to measure the charging current, the voltage seems to be o.k. (would not charge at all otherwise). I used a spare charger, but that did not help. Any suggestions? I have the same issue it seems, when i am listing to my iriver h340 40 gig all of the sudden it shuts off, when i turn it on again it says low battery and turns off even when i know the battery is fully charged from the cradle. The charging time has not differed to any real degree from when it was new. Its now about 2.5 years old.I have the same issue it seems, when i am listing to my iriver h340 40 gig all of the sudden it shuts

I have a h340 40G bout 2-3 yrs old, exactly same as matthew2293, plays music ok then suddenly dies, you switch it back on and it either dies again straightaway, or I get 'low battery' message then it goes off again or it works for a very short while then dies again, all even though it is just fully charged and the battery indicator shows full power. Thought I would try upgrading my firmware to the latest as recommended on th Iriver website but..... the latest they are currently offering is 1.29EU when I already have 1.30E many months ago? Where and when did this firmware go from the Iriver website?I have a h340 40G bout 2-3 yrs old, exactly same as matthew2293, plays music ok then suddenly dies, you switch it back on and it either dies again straightaway, or I get 'low battery' message then it goes off again or it works for a very short while then dies again, all even though it is just fully charged and the battery indicator shows full power. 3.the is too much load on the starter motor which wen starting current in more picks up and gradully reduces its speed.
4.motor insulatioin may be gone so short circuiting may occur inside motor.
I'm not sure my solution can help you or not. I've got this message too but after I formated H10 by Windows.
First backup all files by window explorer. Open iriver plus and go to > Option > Portable Device Initialization. This function will delete all data, Please sure that you already backup all of your data from H10. After initialize process finished, it will ask you to disconnect and connect it agian. ------ Steps below, I can't explain it clearly. May be you will not have the same results as me. I hope it can rise you some ideas how it comes.
I followed that instruction but after I disconnected it again and turned on, expected that msg will disappear, IT's NOT! a bit freak out. Ok claim down, I tried to turn it off but I can't then I pushed its battery out and put it back and turned on, that msg showed up again. Then I connected H10 to Iriver plus again and it upgrades firmware automatically.
At the end after I disconnected and turn on my H10 it works perfectly.
I'm not a native English so my language could make you confused, any questions you can contact me. :)
buy a battery kit from the site underneath your question and install it yourself.I did this-cost $29 now my iriver h320 has anew life and is better than ever!
you can change battery and/or upgrade hard drive (if changing hard drive, save the software to pc then copy to new hard drive)
how to replace battery / hard drive
check and follow this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HOnpHSgMvw
totally the same problem here and i still dont know what to do and from what i here, iriver support does nothing for you because it's a "known" problem
i had the same situation
this happens when you dont turn off your t20 after you disconnet it from your pc
IRIVERS T2O PROBLEM IS THAT IT AUTOMATICALY TURNS ON EVERY TIME YOU DISCONNET IT FROM PC AND IF YOU DONT TURN IT OFF AFTER THIS - IT FROZES
it wont connect to pc after this happens so you have to wait ussualy (~12 hours) until the battery runs low, so after this has happened wait and then after some time try to press play button (to turn it on) and if the battery is dead - it will show LOW BATTERY sign and then you can connect it to your pc again normaly!
hope this will help
