How do i round numbers to the nearest thousand?

Identify the digit that sits at the THOUSAND position.
All the digits at the right of it will be replaced by zeros.
The THOUSAND digit itself may be left unchanged or increased by 1, depending on the digit that sat at the HUNDRED position.
If the digit at the HUNDRED position is 0, 1,2,3,4 the digit at the THOUSAND position is left unchanged.
However, if the digit at the HUNDRED position is 5,6,7,8, or 9, increase the old value of the digit at the THOUSAND position by 1.
5768 469 becomes 5768 000
5768 743 becomes 5769 000
5769 469 becomes 5769 000
5769 743 becomes 576 (9+1) 000 Patience
9+1=10, so you must increase the 10-THOUSAND digit by 1
Thus 5769 743 becomes 5770 000
If any other digit to the left of the THOUSAND digit reaches the value 10 (no digit), then increase by 1 the digit at the left of it.

How can i round to the hundreds or thousands?

Put the calculator in scientific display mode (SHIFT>MODE(Setup)>FIX. You will be asked to enter the number of fixed decimal digits. Enter 2 for hundredths, and 3 for thousandths. To round to the nearest hundreds or the nearest thousands, do it by hand as follows.
For hundreds
Locate the hundred digit. Let it be h.
If the next digit (the tens digits is less than 5 replace the 10 and unit digits each by 0. Your result will look like ...h00.
If the 10s digit is 5 or above (5, 6, 7, 8, 9) you must round up by increasing the hundreds digits by 1. Your result will look like ...(h+1)00
For thousands
Let the thousand digits be t
If the hundreds digits to its right is less than 5, replace it and the digits following it by 0. Your result will look like ...t000.
If the hundreds digit is 5 or higher, increase the thousands digits by 1 and replace the hundreds, tens, and units digits by 0. You result will end with (t+1) 000
Note if (h+1) or (t+1) give you 10, put a zero at their positions and increase the digit to the left by 1.
Example. 78997 to the nearest hundreds 78997 becomes 789(9+1)0 or 78(9+1)00 or 79000

If you interchange the thousands and the ones, you get 8347. Why? In the former, 7 is the thousands, 3-the hundreds, 4-the tens, and 8-the ones. As simple as XYZ. I hope this helps. Thanks for usiing Fixya.

What is the answer of this problem? I am a four digit number. My ones is twice my tens. My hundreds is five less than my ones. My thousands place is the sum of my tens and hundreds. What number am i?

There are two possible answers to the above question, 4136 and 7348.
My ones is twice my tens: The 6 (the ones) is twice as big as the 3 (the tens).
My hundreds is five less than my ones: 6 (the one) - 5 = 1
My thousands place is the sum of my tens and hundreds: 3 (the tens) + 1 (the hundreds) = 4

Hello, I am currently having a problem with my Audiosonic KM0767 Standard Definition Set Top Box. When we first bought it we wired up all the plugs and it worked great. We then moved onto Foxtel...

did you switch the TV's incoming signal to digital antenna? For the cable box it was probably set to cable antenna or analog inputs, not all TV's have automatic switching for antenna feeds. My Mitsubishi has 1 digital and 1 analog antenna input and the cable box will only work through the antenna input if it's the analog antenna input and it's tuned to channel 3 or 4, -(or through a seprate HDMI, PROSCAN, SVCR,or a yellow RCA plug input)- and when the analog antenna input is selected the TV will tune all analog cable channels that the cable service offers if a box is not used. likewise the TV will not tune any channels at all if it's set to digital antenna inputs. It will tune all local channels only when set to digital antenna inputs.
