Disassembly: "Pop the top up and raise it ..."

I need to remove the Top Cover for Troubleshooting. How do we "Pop the top up and raise it ..." ? Do we need to remove any screws? Does the top cover need to slide forward to unlatch? Does the Top Cover need to be Pryed Up from the front? Are there Special Tools needed?

Behind the "Top Mounted Control Panel", there are 6 screws, ( 3 in the panel, and three going into the cabinet.) Seems this will allow me to remove the "Top Mounted Control Panel".

To troubleshoot why the Gas is not igniting, shouldn't I have to Lift the "Top Cover of the Cabinet"?

I tried sliding the Top Cover of the Cabinet Forward, but something in the middle of the Top Cover is in preventing the Top Cover from sliding.

I need to remove the "Top Cover of the Cabinet", and the "Front Panel of the Cabinet" for Troubleshooting why the Gas is not igniting.

This Gas Dryer is an LG DLG6952, with an "On-Top / Rear Mounted Control Panel".

How do we "Pop the 'Top Cover of the Tumbler Cabinet' up and raise it ..." ?

Do we need to remove any screws?

Does the top cover need to slide forward to unlatch?

Does the Top Cover need to be Pryed Up from the front?

    Are there Special Tools needed?

I tried sliding the Top Cover of the Tumbler Cabinet Forward, but something in the middle of the Top Cover is in preventing the Top Cover from sliding.

When I applied Forward Sliding Pressure to either the Left or Right Sides, The Top Cover would Rotate, but the Middle could not be Budged!

Greenjeans, pull the dryer out and look behind it at the top panel. You'll see 6 screws, 3 in the panel, 3 going into the cabinet. Remove the 3 that go in the cabinet. Then slide the whole top panel back (away from the control panel) about an inch or so then lift it. Replacement is the opposite of removal.

Greenjeans, sorry I had a different model in mind when I last posted.

To access and lift this panel, use a putty knife. There are 2 clips holding the lid to the cabinet. They are about an inch or two in from the side. Slip your putty knife between the top and cabinet, apply enough pressure to retract the clip and lift the top panel at the same time. The panel should now raise up like the hood of a car.

Front cover--> Open the door, remove the 2 screws at the bottom, then close the door. Now remove the 2 screws at the top (they were hidden by the top panel). Now pull the front panel away from the cabinet and disconnect the door switch connector.

This'll get you inside for testing the components.

More than happy to help. I'm sorry, though, that I steered you wrong in the first post and wasted your time. Good luck with the repairs!

Won't start when cover closed

your lid safety switch is shot, you need to remove 2 side control panel covers that pop off, then remove 2 screws that are under here, then control panel will separate from top to let you unplug lid switch connection to the control panel, then open the top cover by popping clips inward on the 2 front corners with a putty knife or something flat like this between the top and front covers, then raise top up and lean back against the wall there you can access this switch to replace it,this switch is designed to shut off unit if lid is raised during spin cycle for your safety

The flash lamp doesn't pop up.

Mine did the same thing. The problem in mine after extensive disassembly was the plastic had broken inside the flash where the pop up spring attaches.

This was a pretty extensive repair with full disassembly in my case, not for most people.

A workaround is to take a small rubber band, loop it over the top of the camera from the eyepiece for the viewfinder to the lobe in front of the flash. When you need flash, release the flasy and unhook the elastic fromt he front lobe and let it go under the raised flash unit and it will keep it up. If you case lets you, you can leave it that way. Not pretty but functional.

Flash will not pop up. Can you help?

If it releases but doesn't properly pop up then this may be the answer.

Maytag PYE2300 AZE electric dryer

Unplug the cord of the dryer before starting.

Raise top by placing a putty knife between top and front in the seam between the two about 2 inches in from each edge and lifting up at the same time. Raise top to full open position.

Look down inside the open top dryer at each side there will be a screw on each side a few inches down. Leaning against the front remove the two screw and pull the top forward a few inches and raise it from the supports at bottom then swing it aside protecting any wiring.

This will give you access to the underside of the dryer.

Reverse the disassembly process to reassemble the front and top being careful not to disconnect any wiring.

My Kenmore Series 90 dryer won't run as it appears the door does not hit the actuator. It would appear either the door has moved to a lower position or the actuator has moved up into the dryer. May I ask...

The door switch or actuator is broken. A common problem. On most Kenmore dryers this is replace by lifting the top. Since you haven't given the whole model number I will discuss raising the top on the most common model.

If your model has a lint filter at the top the slide show below should show you how to raise the top.

Kenmore Dryer

Disconnect power to unit. Lift the cover from the lint filter or if yours is the one with a filter and cover together, remove the whole filter. You will see 2 screws under the cover/filter, remove them. Now, you will need a putty knife or a thin shafted straight screw driver to remove the top panel. Push the putty knife or screw driver to "pop" the front top clips. The top panel will hinge back towards the wall and can be left there. Just inside the top of the front panel, you will see 2 screws, remove them. You will see the wires for the door switch on the right side. *** the top of the front panel toward you to gain access to the switch for replacement.

Reverse process for reassembly. Good Luck

How do you remove the face plate the is on the

Remove the top hinge cover , covering the top freezer door hinge , and unplug the visible receptical . This removes power to the dispensor and dorr . Using a butter knife between the grill and the dispensor bottom cover , push down and inward , prying the cover outward . Do this on both sides , about 1 " from each side . This pops the plastic clips off . Raise the cover to release from the upper plastic retainers . Disconnect the plug from the cover and its removed . Do this carefully , because your working with plastic . To reinstall , reconnect the plug to the dispensor cover , slide the top in place and pop the lower tabs back into place . Reinstall the top hinge plug and cover .

Kenmore dryer hums/heats up, but drum does not spin!

Depending on the type of door the dryer has, is how you approach the access of these dryers. Mostly though you yank out the filter first.Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing on top. Then use a putty knife to pop the top. Remove the screws holding the front panel on. VERY IMPORTANT! Raise the front up an inch before pulling forward or the panel clips will break! Some models have a panel on bottom. If they do then this panel must come off first. Then you remove the door springs and back off the screws holding down the bottom of the door panel. Then pop the top and remove the screws on top to get the panel out of your way. Yank out the tub. Clean the junk out (send me the coinery) oil the wheels and Idler with temp resistant zoomoil from ace hardware. Use this guide to replace dat belt Kimosabe:

GE Disassembly

Very good.

There should also be a very helpful "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel. It's very helpful when troubleshooting.

If you still need troubleshooting help. feel free to reply back top this discussion.
