Directv locals I recently hooked up an hd receiver in my living room and everything worked fine.Then it had a software update and that was installed and now I cant get my local abc or cbs channels. I called the tech support and we found out that my smaller dish is not showing up as being installed. i have a big dish and a small to get my locals. My other TV's are getting locals except the one in the bedroom.

Call customer service and ask for compatible receivers at no cost since they upgraded your odu (outside dish unit) and left you with no service in 2 rooms. Let them know how upset you are and demand an answer to why the technician left you without SWiM compatible receivers in all the rooms. Call 800 531 5000 and request to speak with a supervisor. They have the authority to override. If customer service dept does not cooperate then ask to be transferred to the customer retention dept. You will get results there. Remember you are the customer not them. Good luck!

If you swapped directv receivers and the problem followed to a different tv then there is something wrong with the directv receiver. Need to run satellite setup again on this receiver to fix. repeat satellite setup is accessible through the setup submenu by pressing menu from the directv remote. look under satellite submenu once in setup

yes you can but the 2nd tv wont be in HD. The modulator can be purchased for any electronics store. what it does is turns a composite video signal (yellow, red, white cables) into a coax (screw in cable). it has an composite input that you would connect from the receiver and a coax output that you would connect to the other bedroom tv.

I don't know if this will help any, but when I updated my recently purchased tomtom go 720 with the newest app (8.3) and the new voices, map, etc...the voice feature completely stopped working on my unit. Everything else was working fine except the voice. However, I had installed an 8 gig sd card into my tomtom and put all the updates on the sd card because I was running low on the internal memory. Bythe way, only the voice instructions were not working..it would still play mp3's through the internal speaker, so I knew it must be a software problem. After several days with no voice instructions, I then proceeded to re-format the sd card and start all over, as the problem appeared to be a software issue. After re-formatting the sd card, I removed it and installed the back-up file from my tomtom before I did the first update. This time, I deleted a couple of the voices in the update package, so that I would have enough room to install the updates to the internal memory. "Bam" now everything is working perfectly again. I believe for me...the tomtom was having trouble communicating with the new application that I had previously installed on the sd card. I hope this may help someone.

Happens mostly on your local channels right? This is a issue with the local broadcaster and not directv. Due to the digital transition this has been a widespread issue. Until the local affiliate for NBC, ABC, etc. fully transmit a digital signal then this sync problem is to be expected.
