When I was trying to use the washing mchine today, it wouldnt start its cycle. When I first got it, it worked fine. Then it had to go into storage for 3 months. When i plugged it back in it wouldnt work full stop, no lights, no beeps, no nothing. I replaced the top bit with the lights and the computer part of it and it worked fine, except sometimes it would work with the lid open through the whole cycle. Now it wont work at all. It turns on and the lights come on and it beeps and everything but when I press start nothing happens - even if it is advanced forward to the spin or wash part of the cycle it just doesnt move. I suspect perhaps there is a sensor connected to the lid so it wont go when the lid is open? But i have absolutly no idea what to do. Any ideas?? It is a Fisher & Paykel Smart Drive 053. Well, that's what it says on the top of it.

Re: Washing machine has packed a sad
The problem is definitely in the lid switch. Your machine has a reed switch which is located under the hob on the right side of the tub. There is a magnet built into the lid which activates the reed switch when the lid is closed. You will need to replace the reed switch and harness.

Try pressing start pause and cancel at the same time. This is the way to overcome a Beko door lock power problem. A bad sound suggests the belt has broken, and that can only be replaced by a technician
I think you will find the fuse in the plug has blow and secondly there is probably a short circuit in the heater element as before the wash cycle starts it needs to heat the water and that's when the power fails eric
Washing machine stops at the spin cycle - light flashes. Have to drain water out manually. Happened last week and was then able to run an empty rinse cycle. Machine worked normally for another week. Same problem today but have had to drain water manually from the drum after trying an empty 90 wash and rinse cycle (both stopped on the Spin and flashed). Any ideas? Thanks. x
