Check your input.... could be on hdmi or something with no signal... push every button on that remote and see if any of them actually get a menu or something to come up.... backlight could be off or just bad.

Power surge will knock out picture and sound if you don't have a power strip. Found out from Best Buys when purchasing another LCD TV. They have a warrenty against such problems.
Did you try unpluge from the wall, and repluging back after 10 min.
Also run the self diagnosis by pushing the menu and device buttons on the front and let me know the code?
If the green power light is blinking and you have no picture, then your light bulb has burned out and needs to be replaced. It is not a cheap bulb to replace. If the TV is less than 1 year old it should be covered by the warranty
