Follow these steps:
*disconnect everything from the unit (treat it as if you just got it out of the box) no speaker wires no cables.
* turn on the unit and max the volume (w/o anything connected)
*if the unit shuts off during step 2 you need to send it in for service (go to onkyousa.com for the nearest service center)
*if it didn't shut off during step 2 you need to play the tuner and connect one speaker at a time.
EXAMPLE: connect your left speaker and then play the FM and then max the volume for about 2 seconds then turn it down.
if you were successful in maxing out the volume on the left speaker continue with the other speakers until you isolate w/c speaker is causing the issue. if your gonna ask why the FM...its because its a direct playing source but you can still use a cd player or a tape deck to try it out.

take note: if your receiver shuts down on a speaker that you have connected make sure to have that speaker checked or better yet replace it.

Hello Sal, unplug it for 30 minutes. Plug back in and try to turn on. If it does not stay on it would need to be serviced. Thank you, Onkyo USA

Onkyo tx-ds787 6.1 channel receiver won't turn on? no light nothing!

Check the fuse inside the unit. If there is no power lights, the power supply may be bad - the fuse is located in the power supply. Check you wall outlet, too.

Won't turn on.standby light on,fuse under cover is good.what next? onkyo tx-sr605

The only thing to test would be to disconnect all speaker wires at the receiver then turn it back on. If it still won't turn on, it's an internal power supply issue and will need service. If it turns on, post a comment and I can walk you thru further troubleshooting. Hope this helps
