Freezes at a certain point

I have the silver PSP slim that came with Daxter and the Family Guy UMDs. I bought Marvel Ultimate Alliance and have been playing it quite a bit. Now I am at a point where the game tries to load up certain parts and it freezes. I thought it was the game at first, so I took it back and got another, same problem. It's only at certain parts it does this. I have a 1 gig memory stick in it that came with it. Any sugguestions on what to do or how to fix this? I've only had the system about 2 weeks, but not sure where I put the receipt.

Hi TraceMWF,

Your UMD disc drive is malfunctioning.  Open the UMD door and you will see a little black spur sticking up about 3/4" back from front and on the left of the disc drive.  Mash this down on the black spur with a Q-tip, and look and see if the little disc motor spins and the laser lights up.  If they do both.  Dip your Q-tip in some  Isopropyl Rubbing alcohol and dry it some.  Then gently rub the laser lens in a crcular motion.  Then take a Dry Q-tip and dry the lens in a circular motion.  Try your UMD to see if you were succesful.   If you have no success, contact me at [email protected]  I  will replace your UMD drive for $45 including return shipping. This includes a 90-Day warranty as well.  I run the website www.playstationclinic.com
