Hi!
I inherited a Maytag m6q10f2a air conditioner from my friend who moved out.
The top air vent is open, and it is raining, with rain of course getting inside the unit. Is this safe? Should I find a solution to cover the air conditioner? What would be solution you would recommend?
Many thanks in advance.

SOURCE: Air conditioner won't reset.
If you're trying to reset it right after it trips, you're not giving it enough time for the pressures to equal out.
Also, try again, unplugging it from the wall and waiting about 20 minutes before plugging it back in.
If it got a good surge from the storm, it may have grounded out the compressor.

window units need to be pulled their are screws. good luck be careful 409 works as a good cleaner.
SOURCE: How many amps is the M6Q10F2A window air conditioner drawing?
I tried to locate your model but Maytag uses the first 3 letters in the model number to find their product. The number you gave would not work. I can tell you this, the voltage and amperage are located behind the filter on a data plate. The higher the voltage the lower the amperage, Hope that helps, Sea Breeze

I have the same issue. My Sharp AF-S60NX air conditioner has wide (1/2 - 3/4") vents on the top. Won't rain, snow, tree debris harm the air conditioner mechanism. Is it safe to use this type when during a rain storm? Thanks.
