I cannot tune the radio to lots of local stations , most of them with even frequencies (such as 88/0, 91.8, 104.0 etc. The tuner stops only at odd numbers and at only selected stations. It is also very...

The only thing I could find in the manual that might possibly solve this problem, is a "reset".

From the manual:

Press the reset button on the
panel holder. (The clock setting
and preset stations stored in
memory are erased.) (See page
2.)

You can get a copy of the manual here. I hope this helps and good luck. Please rate my reply - thanks.

JVC KD AVX1 car stereo will not tune in to any radio stations, just keeps searching for them, can hear de tuned stations badly. All connections are ok. Any suggestions? Thanks

standard problem would be antenna issue. Make positive that the connection in the rear of the unit has a connection. If it does, take it out, slip a single, small wire in the back of the smaller hole [typically 1 ft long]. Although this results in an impedance ,ismatch, it will allow you to see if the antenna is at fault. With the wire in the hole, scan through the channels. Fixed? Antenna issues. Not fixed? You have an electronic circuitry or setup problem. Try the 'local' and 'mono' switch with the real antenna still connected. Still no reception?

This becomes an electronic issue at this point which stems at the following concerns:
impedance circuitry [usually small, diode at output]
PLL IC faulty or no V

Cannot tune to local stations

- The 0.2MHz odd steps are standard for US radios. Try resetting the radio (recessed button under the front panel) If this a US radio then this may not help. If you have lost the manual then go here:- http://books.jvcservice.com/booklist.asp?Model=KD-G400 Come back and say if this helped or not, I could dig a bit deeper.. -

Tuning station problem

Try this: "Hold FM/AM and Press #5". This solution is for a different model JVC stereo, but hopefully it will work for yours as well.

JVC KD-G400 Radio reciever

I'd go to their website and download the owners manual and see if that tells you how to do it. Good luck.
