Innovative Technology portable mp3 player,(ITVP-333) sound in right ear of headphones only. Headphones work great on other equipment. I have to shake the headphone connector in the mp3 headphone jack to get sound on both parts of headphones, I also have to pull the headphone connector half way out of the mp3 player headphone jack in order to hear stereo sound also.

yeah i found out the problem once i took the think apart. the lower connection that goes to the left ear was broken. i just need to solder it back into place. this is most likely the problem to others as well as sometimes the factory connection will break.

Its either the jack or the connector in the device is the problem. You can try connecting other headphone, if this works, then the problem lies on the jack of the old headphone.

have you tried the headphones on another device? cause this issue could be caused by many things
The underlying hum or static you hear is probably due to poor shielding on the audio jack, so the electromagnetic field produced by the hardware can cause interference.
This could also be caused by a loose connection in the audio jack. This is actually a problem with all skull candy headphones of this kind. You can google it and see alot of people have this problem. Best to test it on 3 devices. If it works on the other 2 and not yours it is your device. If it does it on all 3 it is the headphones. If you just bought them skull candy headphones come with a 90 day warranty up to 1 year. if its in the first 30 days return them and either get a new pair or get your money back.
If you need further assistance please feel free to follow up with a comment and i will be here to assist you. thanks and have a great day.

None of the ear pieces work only if I move around the Jack plug thing

sounds like the jack is faulty tghe cable has been pulled and the wire probably stripped off connectors. if you can access a electronics or audio shop purchase a new jack these are cheap and you will need to cut the end off the cable there should be three wires an earth and a left and right cable these will need to be resoldered on the new jack plug.. make sure it is a stereo jack...!!.the best way to solder is to gently heat the cable end and dab a bit of solder on each before trying to attach to the jack. then when you come to connect the jack end lightly touch the connector and cable together with solder iron and solder..good luck A

Fixed broken headphones but sound quality has plummeted

it sounds as if the wires are wired wrong . yes it is best to solder the wires.all jacks are the same, yours will be stereo i believe. is the braid attached to the earth point, the two other wires attach to the centre of the plug and the other terminal point. these are right and left.

Headphone Jack is NOT working properly

Check your sound device levels. you may need to enable that headphone port before it is usable. you can do this in the control panel tab. reinstalling your sound drivers wouldn't hurt also.
