You can also do a search, by type in the brand name / model number / IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window.

If the display is damaged, you can't. If it just has scratches then you should be able to live with that. If it's damaged to the point of the picture is distorted with lines then its time for a new set if that's what you choose, because the display is about as much as a new set.

There are two ribbon cables at the top centre of the display, if one is loose, you will only have half a screen. When taking a small bump the cable has become loose. Check the ribbon cables and connections.
