Consistent dots down print

Try to print clean page ,
Print a cleaning page During the printing process, paper, toner, and dust particles can accumulate inside the printer and can cause print quality issues such as toner specks or spatter, smears, streaks, lines or repeating marks. Follow these steps to clean the printer's paper path.
  1. Load copier-grade paper (not bond, heavy, or rough paper).
  2. On the printer's control panel, touch the Menu button.
  3. Touch Configure Device .
  4. Touch Print Quality .
  5. Touch Process Cleaning Page .
A Cleaning message appears on the printer control panel display while the cleaning is taking place. The cleaning process takes a few minutes to complete. Do not turn the printer off until the cleaning process has finished. A page will be printed when the task is complete. Discard the page. You might need to repeat the cleaning process to thoroughly clean the printer. Print a few more pages to see if the problem is resolved.

Reading no paper paper tray is full

Instructions
  1. Check the display for an error message. If the display reads "Clearing paper from printer," the engine has detected a jam and is attempting to eject the jammed pages automatically. These pages will often be blank.
  2. Check the display for "Performing PRINT/STOP TEST" or "Performing SERVICE TEST." Either of these messages indicates that the printer is going through a test procedure that may eject blank pages.
  3. Reduce the amount of paper in the input tray if the printer is feeding multiple blank sheets at a time. The printer will pull extra pages through if the input tray is overfilled.
  4. Replace the paper in the input tray with the correct size if needed. If the 4600 printer detects the paper as an incorrect size for the print job, it may eject the paper without printing anything on it.
  5. Replace the ink cartridges if certain colors are blank on the page. Replace the black cartridge if printing a black text document that is coming out blank. The printer may attempt to print even if the ink level is low or empty, but will unable to print anything on the page, causing it to come out blank.
  6. Remove the sealing tape from newly installed cartridges. The tape covers the print heads and should be removed before installing the cartridges. If the tape is left on, it will prevent ink from getting on the pages as they print.
  7. Press the "Check mark" button on the control panel to enter the printer menu. Run a diagnostic so the printer can attempt to determine the cause of the blank pages printing. Press the up or down arrow to select "Diagnostics." Press the "Check mark" button. Press the "Down" arrow to highlight "PQ Troubleshooting." Press the "Check mark" button. The printer runs a diagnostic and returns to a ready state when done.

Black marks on the printing

You could have a build up of ink on your rollers, and as the paper is pushed through it is leaving marks. It could also be causing your ghosting effect or double lines. By having your printer cleaned by a certified technician it should reslove your issue.

My HP 1320 prints a thick black line down the left side of each page of a document.

Easiest step to do would be replace your toner.
Next Step is 1/2 self test page. This means start a print job and after the paper is picked up open the toner cartridge door and cause a jam. The paper that you see after you remove the toner will show the current print. If the mark is seen on the paper there then it is the toner cart. If you dont see it on the paper then it is most likely your fuser causing the issue.

Black ink marks on prints from Epson R380!

Hello:

I have been having this problem all day today and believe I resolved it. The photo paper is thicker (I'm using the Ultra Premium Photo Paper by Epson). I have an Epson 1280 photo printer. I opened the lid and moved the lever to adjust for paper thickness, and voila––no more black ink tracks down the one side. Since photo paper is thicker, this may be your problem as well. Check your manual and see if there's an adjustment for things such as printing envelopes and change the setting. Hope this works for you! I wasted about 6 sheets of paper until I thought to adjust for paper thickness. Please let me know!

Black streaks through pages

There can be some reasons:
1. The Fuser is too cold, so toner was not fixed
2. Image Transfer Belt is defect or dirty

Printer leaves black spots on paper

The black spots mean you either need a new imaging drum, transfer kit or fuser. You'll have to print some stuff and try to catch where the black marks are appearing. Try this method (it's called a Half-self test)

Load 2 -3 sheets of letter paper in tray one (manual feed) and remove paper from the rest of the trays.
From the information menu, request a demo page
The MOMENT the tail end of the paper disappears into the printer, open the right door. Open the front doors and release the levers for the imaging drum and the transfer drum. Carefully remove both pieces and examine your paper.

You should find the paper partway on the transfer belt but not in the fuser. If you see black marks here, start with the imaging drum. Open the shutter that covers the sea green shiny roller and look for marks on the drum (you'll see build up on the edges, that's normal, you should not see any scratches, pockmarks or toner on the center of the drum). If it looks clear, take a look at the transfer drum for marks or cuts on it's surface. (note: the transfer drum can be cleaned off with a dry lint free cloth, do not touch the shiny sea green roller of the image drum)

If everything looks good there, then likely the black marks are coming from the fuser. Let the printer sit, turned off for about half an hour to allow the fuser to cool. You can then remove the fuser and look at the rollers to see if there is any build up or damage there.

If you are not seeing any obvious issues with any of these parts, then start with the imaging drum. If you know that any of these parts have never been changed, then change them as they do have a limit to how many pages and how much time they can be used for.

Smudge marks on paper; otherwise normal

fuser is usually replaced as a assembly, it's the hot bit a back.

Can only be two things the drum or the fuser as our headstrong friend has correctly explained.

More than likely it is the drum they last about 4 toners i think.

Learn the art of getting a page to stop halfway threw printing, you want to stop the page after the drum has put a image on the paper but before paper has gone threw the fuser (hotbit).

Once you have mastered the position correctly by stopping the printing by opening the door and removing drum/toner cartridge, to reveal the paper that is printed but can be rubbed off, we will know if marks are coming from the drum (you will see them) or from the fuser, if print is fine
