Remote Starters have to bypass the anti-theft software. disconnecting the battery, broke the programming. You will need to take it back to the installer.
Is this a factory OEM remote start? It sounds like the security system is shutting the engine down. This would caused by a faulty aftermarket system or a defect in the wiring installation.
You did not mention the year/make/model of your vehicle but, the issue appears to be the factory alarm. The installer failed to make the connection. If you intend to make the connection yourself I would need information pertaining to the vehicle. The (-) pulse before start wire for Prestige remote starters is black with a blue stripe. It is in a 4 pin connector at the module. This wire can be used to disarm the factory alarm before the remote start sequence.
I will need to know the make and model of your car to answear this possitively but this sounds like a problem with your bypass module. That is if your car has a immobility system. an easy way to check this is stick your key in the ignition "Do not turn the key" just insert it in the ignition then hit the remote start. if the car does not shut down that is where your problem lies. if the car still shuts down then your problem is due to either a bad brain or faulty wiring.
