The most likely causes are a bad turntable motor, a bad turntable coupler, or a problem with the wiring to the motor or on the controller. Also, you might check your manual to see if there is a feature to turn it off. It may be set to off. You can find the owner's manual online here: http://panasonic.com.au/content/library/files/F001226.pdf or http://manualshark.org/manualshark/files/24/pdf_17508.pdf You can get any needed parts here (enter your model number without any dashes) http://www.pasc.panasonic.com/epartr If you need more help, please reply back. I appreciate your thoughtful rating of my answer.

What size glass tray do I need for my Westinghouse model WCM770B/W microwave? I broke mine and cannot find the answer in the manual.

Frequent thrift stores or yard sales, or take a tape measure to the inside of the microwave
. If your dish was square, the glass plate should likely be about 1 inch less wide and 1 inch less deep that the inside of the box.
If you have a round plastic rotator, the dish should be about 1 -2 inches bigger in diameter than the plastic rotator.
God bless your efforts.

My ge micro will not stop turning

HELLO.

If by not turning mean turntable fault, the solution is given below in detail.

1 Press "Stop" to halt microwave operation.

2 Press the "Turntable" button once to turn off rotation.

3 Push the door-release button to open the microwave oven if you do not have a "Turntable" button on your control keypad.

4 Lift and remove the glass platter from the oven, then pick up the plastic track with three wheels below the platter. Set aside these parts.

5 Insert the elevated microwave cooking tray into the oven. The tray has three to four short legs that hold it above the bottom of the microwave, keeping it from interfering with the rotating bolt in the bottom center of the oven the drives the turntable. You can now place food on the elevated tray and cook normally without disrupting the drive bolt.

Thanks.

GE JE1860WH04 oven - between one and two years old. Timer runs, but tray does not rotate and food does not heat. Tried unplugging and plugging back in - no help in the manual.

Firstly, do NOT attempt self repair of any microwave oven unless you understand the risks involved. Removing the cover exposes one to the magnetron and it's associated high voltage components. Lethal voltages exist when in operation.

Now, to your problem:
All microwave ovens operate on very similar principles, where the front panel controls switch power to the high voltage transformer (and then to the magnetron) and also any other related components, such as the turntable motor, and the internal lamp.
Most ovens have at least two protective devices that operate in cases of specific component failure.
These include: (1) Protective fuses that rupture when a short circuit condition exists, and, (2) a thermal cutout (mounted on the magnetron) that removes power in the event of overheating (usually magnetron cooling related). Unfortunately you did not state whether the control section is push button or the simpler rotary control version.

In the case of a push button (or digital) control system, it is quite possible that the circuit board has failed, and is not switching power to the rest of the microwave oven, despite the timer appearing to operate, or a protective fuse has ruptured.
In the case of a mechanical timer, either the timer has developed an internal fault (and is not switching power though) or a protective fuse has ruptured.

Thermal cutout devices, usually only operate when the magnetron exceeds a predetermined temperature (usually in the vicinity of 100 deg Celcius), and most of these thermal faults occur due to the cooling fan failing to provice adequate airflow though the heat distribution fins of the magnetron.

A volt meter would assist greatly in fault-finding, but beware of the high-voltage section, where voltages in excess of 3000 voltas are present.

Unless one is proficient with these devices (and fully comprehend the associated risks), I seriously recommend referral to a trained service provider.

HI - our rotating plate cracked for a JVM1450BA001 micro. Do have a replacement part for this model? I believe it has been discontinued.

Even though the model has been discontinued, the tray is still available. If you go to www.appliancepartspros.com and enter the model number you should be able to find the tray there. Hope this helps you.

I have a GE Spacemaker II microwave: JEM25GY that died. It seems less expensive to replace rather than fix. Power works; it doesn't heat. New models all apparently have turntables; mine didn't and I...

YOU CAN TRY REMOVING THE GLASS TRAY AND TURNTABLE AND REPLACING IT WITH YOUR OLD GLASS TRAY (IF YOU HAD ONE) OR JUST ANY GLASS MICROWAVE TRAY. WITHOUT THE TURNTABLE, I CAN'T SEE HOW IT CAN ROTATE.

My Samsung microwave no longer spins. Any ideas? Please help

The turntable system consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours is not set to be off via the control panel, and it won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven.

You can order Samsung parts here.

Microwave oven NN-S573

The usual cause is the tray motor assembly, or the power supply that feeds it. These parts are available from the parts rep for Panasonic. Contact Panasonic for details.

There are serious safety issues when servicing microwave ovens. I suggest to have the oven professionaly serviced by an experienced service tech for these products.
