we tried the memory stick in another camera. it is the memory stick. i bought it on ebay, had it shipped from Hong Kong. they want it back to test, because all their stuff supposedly leaves 100% tested. they will pay postage back. sounds like I found my issue. the memory stick, not thecamera. thank you. carol

I have the same problem as this!

Got a 4gb (sony) pro duo stick brand new from ebay to put in my sony dsc-s730 camera.

It worked fine for a few days then just stopped working all together, I had ther same symptoms ie, screen was just blank and the camera wouldnt turn on! Also the removable memory light was always red so the camera was not picking it up that it had one in there at all!

My advice to anyone who is looking to get one of these memory cards for there camera is simply dont 'scimp and save' on this purchase as there are to many fakes around which either dont work at all or work for a few days only!

Like many people have said prior, go to sony direct to get one of these! It might be a few quid more but its more then worth it in the long run!

    good luck.

Try another memory stick as this seems defective.

Aftermarket memory sticks usually defective. Buy original Sony memory stick to avoid data loss.
Thanks.

I need a sd card and cable for sony f 717

Your Sony uses a memory stick called Sony Memory Stick Pro which they don't make any more, it was replaced with a smaller card called Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo, go to ebay and buy a adapter called Sony Memory Stick Pro Adapter it is sliver in color with blue color at the end. Once you get ahold of that adapter, you can now buy the new smaller card called Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo and insert it to that adapter, then slide the adapter with the new smaller card into your camera.
I have several older Sony digital camera that I converted to use the newer Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo cards, it works great ! I checked your Sony model on Ebay and you have to scroll down a bit to see those adapters I just mentioned, some sell with the adapter and the newer memory stick already included in the price.

WHAT memory stick do i use for a DCR-PC9E

You probably need the old-style memory sticks, as this is a fairly old camera, or an adapter. See this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_Stick
Adaptors are cheap : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Memory-Stick-Pro-Duo-Adapter-/251482939281?pt=UK_Photography_MemoryCardReaders_RL&hash=item3a8d8d1f91 is but one example, there are lots for sale out there or your sony shop may have one.
You may have to check to see if the camera is capable of reading and writing to a card of 4GB size, but as you have already bought it, it's worth a try.
Hope this helps.

Not reading in computer and camera

It's probably a fake one. I had the same problem; I bought a 16GB one for few bucks from an online store, but it was fake so I faced the same problem.
Read this guide to determine if your memory stick is fake or not: http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/FAKE-Sony-Memory-Stick-Pro-Duo-MagicGate-Cards-Exposed_W0QQugidZ10000000001535763

If it's not fake, then there might be a problem with your memory stick. Try replacing it with a new one if possible.

Hope this helped.

Sony CX-12 Camcorder gives message when memory stick inserted

Hi!
This is a feature and not a defect of the CX-12 that reminds the user that the memory stick inserted might not be able to record the data from the camera effectively. HD video requires a memory stick with a relatively fast data read/write speed, and the CX-12 recommends not using any other stick that is not Mark 2.
Fortunately, though, as you have found out, it does not affect the camera's ability to record in non-Mark 2 sticks.
Hope this helps!

Copying computer pix to memory stick

The resolution is probably incorrect for the camera LCD. try changing their size to a standard size like 640x480 with a resize program.

Problem accessing memory stick

I had the same problem. I bought a 2 gig memory pro-duo with the adapter and it gave me that error even though it fit just fine. I then tried a 512 memory stick and a 1 gig memory stick and neither one worked it gave me the C:13:01 error code. So I found out the hard way that the camera will not read it. The Sony DSC-S85 will not take memory above a 128. Try the Lexar 64MB memory stick. I just bought 4 and they work perfectly fine.

File error

I was having the same problem with my 4GB memory stick pro duo, when i took more than 50 pictures with my camera (dsc-w90) i would get the blue screen with the file error message. I'm guessing you bought the memory stick on ebay right? I bought mines there and it turns out it's a fake one. If you also bought it there then you most likely have a fake memory stick because I found out that most of the memory sticks sold on ebay are fake, to help you figure out if you have a fake one or not check out this guide or google fake memory stick pro duo. http://reviews.ebay.com/FAKE-Sony-Memory-Stick-Pro-Duo-MagicGate-Cards-Exposed_W0QQugidZ10000000001236041
