Question about Canon PIXMA MP780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Big Black not printing

MP780 - New print head and new ink. If I run the nozzle check the BCI-3 section at the top is not there. The BCI-6 color sections are there just fine. If I copy a black and white document I get a blank sheet of paper. If I copy a color document, I get the colors printed, but any thing that is black is very faint or missing. If I print a black and white document from the computer I get a blank sheet of paper. If I print a color document from the computer I get the color, but the black is not there. Scanning and faxing both work.

Sounds to me your print head is plugged up. This is not usual though because the majority of people use black ink much more. So, in your printer utility, do a deep cleaning. If that does not work, there is a thing called a purge unit in it. This is a usual way of draining waste ink to a pad that soaks it up. if the hose, or other parts are clogged, it backs the ink up and causes the print head to clog. If this is the start of it, do not waste your ink cleaning, and try not to let it sit too long. Contact canon, and let them kno what you think it is.

Wrong Color Printing

Hi,
Type "print nozzle test" in the search box and click Search. Perform a nozzle test, and if the colors match what are on the instructions, your print head and inks are OK.

(1) If the print head and inks check out OK, type "wrong colors on print" in the search box, and you will see several troubleshooting steps you can try.

(2) If the nozzle test colors are off, confirm that you are using BCI-6 inks for all three colors and the small black tank. You should only have a BCI-3 tank in the large black position. If you have all the correct inks, your machine probably needs to be serviced/ repaired.

Thank

I've just replaced the black ink cartridge for my Epson Stylus TX100, ink level is ok as the indicator shows. But i get blank prints for black, other colors are fine. What's wrong with the black ink...

There is nothing wrong with the black ink. Just run the head cleaning for better printing.

1. Go to printer and faxes
2. Right click your printer ( Epson Stylus Multifunction Printer/ Copier/ Scanner InkJet)
3. Click printing preferences
4. Click Maintenance Tab
5. Click Head Cleaning
6. Run head cleaning for 5 times then try printing.

Will not print in black. will print in color. I

Sounds like a badly clogged nozzle. If you are using aftermarket/refilled cartridges, the changes are the ink is not up to manufacturer specs and has dried and clogged the nozzle. The best way to clear this is to take a new black ink OEM cartridge and run the deep cleaning a number of times (at least 3) to see if the nozzle can be cleared. If you continue to use non-OEM cartridges, I would keep a set of OEM cartridges around for nozzle clearing purposes. Also, take the aftermarket ink cartridges back to the vendor and either get an upgraded cartridge or refund.
Let me know if this corrects the problem. Thanks.

Main black print(BCI-3eBK)seems clogged and nozzle check shows only partial pattern. The cartridge seemed to be stuck to the print head. This happened before about two months ago. My technician cleaned it....

Sounds like you need a new printhead, and the only thing you need for cleaning is a damp cloth. All the Canon inks are water soluable. The printheads don't clean very well and don't last long if you do clean them.

Won't print black ink text; looks like faint watermark print; ran all maintenance check several times (nozzle checks, etc)

Remove the black cartridge and soak it with an alcohol free window cleaner soaked paper towel let it sit on the towel for a good thirty minutes then wipe clean and put back in printer run nozzle check if necessary.

Nozzle check has even missing bands of color on new printhead

You will have to do an external clean of the print head.
Remove the cartridges.
Remove the print head from the printer.
Be careful not to touch the metal contacts on the head.
Boil some water, pour 1/4" (6 millimetres) of water into a saucer.
Immediately place the part of the print head 'where the ink comes out' in the water.
Leave in there for 2 minutes.
This will clean any junk out of the holes.
Place the head on some tissue paper and let the paper absorb the water.
Do not rub the print head with the tissues!
Replace the print head back in the printer, replace cartridges and run the setup - alignment.
This works most times unless the print head is faulty...

Deskjet F380 is normaly printing but it will print blank

If the printer is printing blank pages, make sure you are using the correct printer driver and make sure the paper size is correctly selected in the driver. If the printer is printing black only, the Ink option in the printer driver may be set to Black instead of Color or a setting in the software may be set to print black only. Also, the print head nozzles may be clogged. From the Utility section found in the printer driver, clean the print heads by performing a head cleaning followed by printing a nozzle check pattern. A head cleaning and nozzle check must be performed as a cycle. After printing a nozzle check, examine the printed dot pattern. Each staggered horizontal and straight vertical line should be complete, with no gaps in the dot pattern. If there are gaps in the dot pattern, continue with another cycle. Performing up to 6 cleaning cycles is not uncommon if the print heads are severly clogged.

WILL NOT PRINT!!!

Confirm that the ink tanks are installed properly When replacing the ink tanks, confirm that the new ink tanks are installed properly. (See the illustration below this paragraph for ink tanks recommended for this model.) If the ink tanks are not locked into place, paper may not be fed properly, or ink may not be supplied to the print head. sj402022.jpg

Ink Tanks:
- BCI-24 Color
- BCI-24 Black
  1. Make sure the power is turned on.

  2. Lift the Scan Unit until it locks into place (1). The Print Head Holder moves to the center.

  3. Open the Paper Output Tray (2).

  4. Open the Inner Cover.

  5. Check if the ink tanks are installed properly.

  6. When installing the ink tanks, push the top of the ink tank until a click sound is made.

Note: If the ink tanks are not installed properly, paper may not be fed properly, or ink may not be ejected.

  7. Close the Inner Cover.

CAUTION: Press the center of the Inner Cover until the cover locks into place.

  8. Return the Scan Unit to its original position. The LCD displays a message asking if you replaced an ink tank.

Won't print black

I found a solution to the Black printing problem :)
Under Printing Preferences: Set your Media Type to Photo Paper Pro.
We used edible ink cartridges and printed onto icing sugar paper. Same old... Just one day it refused to print black. In order to continue our small business, I degraded the color until I printed gray and not black.

Tonight, I browsed for the problem and came across this :)

Hope it helps you too
