Question about Whirlpool LER5636P Electric Dryer

Belt replacement I need to replace my drum belt on above dryer. I cannot seem to access the correct area. Removing the rear pannel does nothing for belt replacement. Can anyone forward more detailed instructions as to locating the belt area? WD

There is a rebuild kit available for $30 from your parts store that includes the new belt, 2 replacement rollers, and an upgraded idler tensioner with a wheel (much better than metal slide).  It also has a detailed instructional sheet.  You can do the whole project start to finish in about 1 hour or less.  WD

Dryer drum not turning

The belt should also be running threw a small pulley beneath the the drum. If it has come off of that pulley the drum will not spin.

How do a replace the belt on the drum of my indesit washer dryer

REMOVE THE SOCKET FROM THE WALL OUTLET.
To replace a belt that passes over the drum on a dryer you need to be able to pass the new belt over either the back or the front of the drum. This entails removing the front panel to clear the whole drum or loosening off the rear bearing support to pass the belt under it so that the belt can be passed over the drum. From there it is just a case of passing the belt over the motor pulley and replacing all the parts. Select which will be easier on your machine. After replacing everything but the top panel, make sure that the belt is correctly installed by turning the drum several revolutions by hand and ensuring that the belt is running true and still on the motor pulley. Replace the top cover and you are set to go.

Dryer stopped working?

  1. From the top of the dryer, remove the lint trap. Using your screwdriver, unscrew the assembly that houses the lint screen and remove it from the dryer, setting it aside.
  2. Using your screwdriver as a lever, insert it under the front right side of the dryer, between the top and the body. Press down to force the top slightly up from the body. Repeat this process on the left side, and lift the top off the dryer.
  3. Remove the lower panel from the dryer by inserting the screwdriver into each side and rotating to release the clips that hold it in place. Slide your phone book under the now-exposed dryer drum so that the drum will be supported.
  4. Loosen the screws at the bottom of the front cover, but do not remove them (this allows access to the belt without requiring you to remove and replace the entire front cover). Move to the top of the dryer, and remove the screws holding the front of the dryer in place. (These will be located at the top, behind the front.) Tip the cover toward you, exposing the drum, and slip the broken belt off the drum without fully removing. Slip the new belt over the drum, and lift up on the drum while returning the cover to the closed position. Replace the screws to the front cover and tighten the lower screws. Remove your phone book from its position under the drum.
  5. Check the rear drum seal to the back of the dryer, and position the new belt identical to the old, with the textured side facing down.
  6. Directing your attention to the motor area, remove the old belt and feed the new belt through, passing the entire belt, doubled over, under the idler pulley. Push the belt toward the motor pulley, placing the belt around it, and allow the tension to release on the idler pulley.
  7. With your hand inside the dryer drum, rotate the drum counterclockwise to ensure that the belt has been properly installed. Replace the top of the dryer, exerting downward pressure for a snug fit, followed by replacing the lint screen assembly, and the lint trap, and then replacing the lower front cover.
  8. Run the dryer for several minutes to ensure that the dryer is operational and that you have installed your belt correctly.

Drum is making a knocking noise

it could be the rear drum bearing going out or the rear drum rollers going bad or the roller wheels beginning to flatspot or the front rollers in the same shape, you would need to remove the front cover on the unit by removing the lower kick panel screws, then remove the top cover and removing the drum belt, then remove the drum from the machine to examine all the above issues noted

Dryer heats but drum will not turn

the drum belt is more than likely broken. To access this area you will need to remove the back panel of the drier and there the motor and the belt assembly is. Take the model and serial number to an appliance part house for the correct replacement.

Hope this helped

How do I gain access to the motor on my Neptune dryer

Open the dryer door.
Remove four screws - two are holding the door and two are holding plastic pieces opposite the door.
With the screws released, the front pannel of the unit will tilt forward and can be removed.
With the front pannel out of the way, two metal retainers found at the top front of the dryer can be released which allows for the top of the unit to be lifted up and removed if desired.
From this point, four more screws found on the front face were removed which allowed the front ducting and front part of the drum to be removed.
The drum was pulled out (work the belt to the rear of the drum while extracting it - optionally, you can release the belt tension by reaching in and removing the belt from the idler)
The motor is accessable.

Professionals may want to pull all the screws from the side pannel and remove it for easier access.
