It sounds like the printer is no longer installed. Reinstall it using the original driver disk, if you do not have the disk you can download the drivers from www.hp.com under drivers and downloads.
Hope this helps

I believe you are right. It seems to me that the printer is no longer installed.I will try your suggestion, CSI COMPUTERS
This is my first experience on this website, FixYa. I see that there is a paid assistance option which is payable by credit card, but is this secure? It even asks for the 3-digit code on the back of the credit card. I feel uncomfortable posting my credit card info and the 3 digit security info of the credit card, on the internet.
My printer does not execute the print. Instead, it goes to "SAVE" and shows a window box beside "SAVE" showing that the file is *.xps.\r\nWhen my print function works normally, I am never referred to "SAVE" and I never see *xps. Usually I get excellent service from my printer either by choosing the little print icon on the horizontal menu bar, or by going to the FILE drop down menu and selecting PRINT. Also, I am usually able to print without saving - I beielive. After all I may just need to print without saving an informal document..
Inside my Control Panel, in the Printers & Faxes Page, the icon of my HP PSC 2210 printer is missing. It seems it should be there. It is not there.
What I have inside the Printers and Faxes page are 4 other machines such as 1) HP LASER JET (mine is an InkJet), 2) FAX 3) MICROSOFT OFFICE DOCUMENT IMAGE WRITER 4) MICROSOFT DOCUMENT XPS WRITER which has a check mark beside it and the word 'ready.'
It seems the *.xps in the window box is connected to this mystery machine the MICROSOCT DOCUMENT XPS WRITER. I have no idea what it is.
CSI Computers on FixYa suggested I download the driver by going to www.hp.com, which I did, and it is the same rw2_021_w02_enu.exe. which I already had, nevertheless I downloaded it again and ran it again, and it did not cause the PSC 2210 icon to appear on my Printers & Faxes page inside the Control Panel.
After this exercise, the printer printed the "align cartridge" page and also printed the 'self test' page, so we know the hardware of the printer itself is OK and communicates with itself. (Right?)
However, my Word software document does not communicate with my printer, nor does an email document communicate with my printer.
I signed up for the FIXYA 'premium live chat', despite my fear of posting my credit card information online. (Thank you for telling me it is secure ) . Then I expected a live chat window to appear, but it did not appear. When I enquired by email to FixYa, I was told by FixYa via email that someone will get to me in 48 hours.
I would welcome any further readers' comments / suggestions and thank the guru at CSI Computers for his/her help.
Thanks~
Hello to all who have responded to my problem.

The USB cable was not connected to the right port in my printer!
(So dumb of me ). Therefore my computer could not communicate with my printer.
The problem is solved!! Thank you very much.
