SOURCE: Lakewood oil filled heater model 5500

Follow up to my post of 13 January. Out of desperation, I took the heater apart and determined that an electrical fuse-like thermal overload device had opened on the neutral side of the feed to the heating element thus rendering the unit non-working. This device is wrapped in a sheath around the underside of the heating element's electrical connections where the element enters the radiator's core. If the element exceeds the rated temperature it apparently "blows" or electrically opens much like a fuse. The lights still come on but no electricity is getting to the element. When I removed this from the circuit, the the unit began making heat. Apparently, when the heater is on full (both switches on for the full 1,500 watts) the core temperature gets too high. So, I now use my heater on only the 900 watt setting and it's putting out plenty of heat. Today's high is 2F and the room is comfortable. I've no doubt the manufacturer would not condone this modification and I have no intention of turning my modified heater back on "HIGH." Therefore I do not recommend doing this yourself unless you are competent in electrical and soldering work and are sure you won't overheat the unit. Having said that Lakewood clearly has either a design flaw or a bad batch of heater elements or overload protectors out there. When I have time, I'm planning to send my defective protector back to them with a letter. But given that they never responded to my e-mail to their customer service don't expect much in the way of a reply. As they say on TV, don't try this at home.

Autofry fryer will not heat up and checked red reset button and it is not tripped

The High-Limit thermostat may need to be reset. You'll notice a red reset button on the underside of the heater box assembly, in between the two plug connections. Take a pen or pencil and push the red button five to six times. The button should have one distinct click to reset. If there is a distinct click every time the red button is pushed this is an indication the High-Limit switch has failed.
Next, try cleaning the heater plug connections with a Q-tip and acetone. If there is any grease building up inside the plugs this can hinder the voltage from getting to the element. If cleaning these plugs is prolonged, damage to the plugs will occur.
If these steps don't rectify the problem, a service company may be required to test voltage in the unit to the element.

Why won’t my edenpure heater throw heat even though I changed all the heat elements

It could be a fuse. They are small look kinda like a metal diode. Unplug heater, disconnect one side of power wire and do a continuity check on the heat strip circuit. You can also plug it in and do a voltage check on the two wires connected to the heat strip. Do this to see if you are getting voltage to the strips. Some heaters have safety switches that disconnect power when the heater falls over. It's a free swinging switch that might not have reset.

Heater not getting hot but blower is working

Without more information, I can tell you that you have a problem with your heater core. Check coolant levels and make sure you aren't low on coolant. If that isn't an issue, make sure your heater core isn't bypassed. In Texas, I see them bypassed instead of repaired because it hardly ever gets cold here. You could also have a dirty heater core that isn't allowing the heat transfer. The only other thing it could be is an issue with the temperature blend door/actuator. If it isn't opening properly to allow the warm air from the heater core to enter the ventilation system, you won't get hot air.

My heater isn't sending any heat .It seems like the fan isn't comming on

Most units heat comes on first. Does it get hot at all? may have over temp switch open and needs reset, after that check for fan operation. If fan does not come on it may lock out again. That would confirm bad blower motor.
Not sure if this unit needs this blower? Some space heaters it is an option.

Problem with the DeLonghi HHP1500 Mid-Size Heater The heater has worked well for two seasons. We just got back from a long weekend having left the heater on low. When we got back, the light was still on...

There is a overheat safety feature and it can usually be reset. Unplug the heater for 5 to 10 minutes and the plug it back in. If that doesn't solve the problem, there is an internal reset switch, but it's a little hard to find. You will have to remove the back cover, then look for a red button/switch that has 2 wires coming out of it, that go to the heating element. Press that, to reset the safety switch.

But, I must add, the other solution/answer you received ... that it may have burned up the heating element is certainly a reality. In any event, it's not safe to leave a space heater ON and unattended for any length of time. Particularly, since this one somehow slipped of the fireplace hearth while no one was at home. Just be glad the overheat safety switch worked as it should. Electric space heaters are one of the biggest causes of house fires in the U.S.

Set it upright and unplug it. Allow it to cool completely. This should reset the unit. You may also have a reset button on the outside of it. Check for that as well. Otherwise its a tip switch and it needs to be reset by setting it up right and unplugging it for 30 seconds.
Hope it helps...
