Whirlpool side by side fridge not cooling

The freezer part is working fine but the fridge is not cooling at all. I can find one fan at the bottom at the back and this is running continuously. Is the cold air suppossed to come from the freezer into the fridge so could there be a blockage or a themostate problem in the fridge?
Thanks for your help.

Yes, only part that gets could is in the Freezer. If block by ice (usually) this will not allow the cold air to go into the ref., if so, defrost problem. Check amount of ice on coils in back of Freezer. Should only be a thin frosting.

If the side x side has 2 compressors then go from there. Inspect the fridge compressor and see if it is hot or cold. If cold, it is normally the thermostat or starting coils. If only one compressor, then the internal fan is the problem. Sometimes you might even have an auger motor as well. This adjusts the temp on demand and it also sticks. Suggest you switch unit off for the whole evening with both doors open to help faster defrost. In the morning, wipe any water up and restart unit. If it still doesnt work correctly, you will need help. There are defrost elements and components that need to be checked to find the fault. Often the fan sticks and needs attention.

Hi i have a wirlpool fridge the freezer and fridge works fine but it seems the motor keep on running and dont switch off or is it the fan that is running please help

Hello Sandra;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

You just have a simple operational and maintenance issue.
Neither your compressor or fans should run continuously.

First, you need to clean your condensing coil. You did not provide a model number so you either have a flat cooling coil in the front bottom, or a canister type in the back right hand side. This coil dissipates the heat. If it is plugged up your compressor and fans will run trying to keep up with the unit temperature settings. This can make a difference as much as 40 degrees. The toe plate, bottom front is either held in place with a screw on each end. If no screws, there is a clip on each end. Just pull and it will pop out.

Second, You only have only one cooling source and that is your freezer. The freezer will try to satisfy itself first before the fresh food section. If you set the temperature controls beyond the unit design settings your compressor and fans will keep running. Set your freezer to -2 or +2 Deg. F., and set your fresh food section to 35-40 Deg. F.

Third, Check your door gaskets. make sure there are no gaps.

Neff fridge/freezer has stopped cooling

pull the unit from the wall, remove the bottom back panel , see if the small fan is working ,if the fan is , there's probally alot of dust back there, unplug the fridg. and vacuum the area real good, use a flash light to make sure you get it all, if the fan is not working and the compressor is running the fan is the problem ,the fan keeps the compressor and coils cool so the freon can cool down so the unit works like it should,if the freon is hot ,the air the fridg.will be blowing will be hot. this should fix your problem, and YES its worth fixing.alittle p.m.saves alot of $$$$$$$$$

Whirlpool fridge is fine but freezer not

Is your circulating fan working?
Sometimes they stick and need a shot of WD 40 and then work
it back and forth a little until it wants to take off again.
Also check to see if anything is blocking any airflow at the vents.
Keep me informed
and PLEASE give a Thumbs Up for the effort. The Raz Shack

The compressor on my refregerator seem to be overheated it is a side by side the insides of the doors are warm and the freezer will not free but it is running there is cool air in freezer

The doors should be warm. There or heaters in the doors or what they call a yodelers loop in the frame around the doors that keeps condensation from forming. Make sure the fan if blowing on the compressor and the fan inside the freezer is also running. If so be sure there is no ice built up on the bottom inside back panel of the freezer. If so you will have a defrost problem and the coil is full of ice and not allowing the air to flow through it and cool the fridge. If there is ice, the heater behind the panel is most likely bad.

My whirlpool ART 900G fridge freeser, the freezer works but the fridge wont chill

Check the fan that moves the air from the freezer side to the refrigerator side. It is either stuck in ice or not working. Defrost the refrigerator for 24 hours and then restart it Listen for the fan operation be aware that the fan may shut off when you open the door, so listen closely. Defrosting it may fix or the fan may need to be replaced.

New whirlpool refrig. freezer ok at 0 but refrig

The freezer get the first crack at cooling and combination units have a fan and adjustable vents to steal some of the cooling capacity for the refrigerator. The vent are normally located in the back of the refrigerator compartment and with these, you can balance the cooling capacity between freezer and fridge. I recommend you swap your thermometer back and forth until you get the balance you want; typically the freezer should be at 5 degrees F or below and the fridge at 35-40 degrees F. Adjusting the control for temperature and having the vents set to supply the cold air you want in each compartment should give you the range you want in each.

HI, your Temperature Control Module has failed. it controls the air flow and vent(damper) action. replacing the temp control mod will fix this issue you are having at this time.
