Better to have the motherboard replace, do not wait until some other components might be also damage. Commonly mosfet is use in power supplies regulator. It can kill your processor and memory.

And also check your power supply. It might also having problems.

Asus pro31f laptop turns off when i go to battery

Sounds like a bad Power MOSFET on the motherboard, to me.

Using the HP Pavilion dv6000 series, and Pavilion dv9000 series of Notebook PC's; for an example,

In so stating, do you wish to attempt board level repair, or just replace the motherboard?

Hmmm, may have to retract that one. No Service Manuals available to the public.

Of course I am a tech with years of knowledge in repairing laptops.
If you can stand a 'windy' tech, and LOTS of reading, I can guide you in disassembling.

Post back in a Comment.

(I can guide you with board level component replacement too, but you're gonna' need to sharpen your soldering/de-soldering skills.

For example; the Fairchild Semiconductor Industries - FDS6679 - Power MOSFET, runs about $1.01 USD.

The Alpha & Omega Semiconductor LTD - AO4407 - Power MOSFET, runs about 78 cents USD.

Ihave mbx -160 ms70 sony laptop mother board ther is no power adapter is working pleas telme whatare the comapnents i have to chek in power section

A) Check the DC Power Jack.

The DC Power Jack is the jack that the AC adapter (Charger) plugs into. (May state DC_IN near the jack on the outside of the laptop case)

IF, I have it right, there is a DC Power Harness. The DC Power Jack is connected to wires in a harness, and the harness has a plug on the end. The DC Power Harness plugs into the motherboard.

[Instead of the DC Power Jack being soldered to the motherboard]

Remove the DC Power Harness, and with a multimeter set to OHM's perform a continuity check of all wires in that harness.
See if the DC Power Jack of the harness, is in good shape.

DC Power Harness checks out?
Problem is with the Power MOSFET's on the motherboard, or a ceramic capacitor, or two.

Don't know who makes the P.MOSFET's on the motherboard, or what manufacturer number they are.
They are however, located Near the connector on the motherboard for the DC Power Harness, and they have 8 J-leads.

This is an example of a Fairchild Semiconductor FDS6675BZ
Power MOSFET. One example of a P.MOSFET used in this application, on a LOT of laptops,

Note the leads coming off of both sides. Those are 'J-leads'.

See if any of the Power MOSFET's, or Ceramic Capacitors, are burnt, and/or bubbled.

This gives you more information, but is using HP Pavilion dv6000, and Pavilion dv9000 series of Notebook PC's, as an example,

Here you see the two Power MOSFET's used. One on top of the motherboard in the power section area, one on the bottom of the motherboard.

Looking at the second photo with the Alpha and Omega AO4407, Power MOSFET as an example, look to the right of the yellow circled AO4407.

To the right is a Ceramic Capacitor.
Rectangular in shape, and looks like there is a black wide band across the middle. There are two more above it. See if one, or more of these are burnt.

That's right. A Fairchild Semiconductor FDS6679 Power MOSFET is $1.01 USD, without tax, and shipping.

Just an example of cost.

Scroll down. Average cost is from 9 cents to 80 cents USD.

Asus pro31f series duoT2350 notebook does not boot up. Potential motherboard failure? How do I recover data?

A) Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.
B) Remove the Harddrive;

According to specifications it is a 100GB SATA harddrive.

Harddrives are measured across their width.
A laptop harddrive is 2.5 Inches across in width. (2 -1/2 inches)
Desktop harddrives are 3.5

Install the Asus Pro 31F harddrive in a 2.5 SATA external enclosure.
The external enclosure has a USB cable. Turns your laptop harddrive into an external harddrive.

One example of a 2.5 SATA external enclosure,

C) I believe what may be going on, is you have a failed Power MOSFET, or Power MOSFET's.

D2PAK surface mount,

(Requires using a clip heatsink on each lead when soldering.
After all, this uses Transistors )

Motherboard problem, yes I believe you may be correct.
Repairable? Yes.
Find a tech that can perform this? Isn't easy.
Most just want to replace motherboards.
Why? More $$$$$$$$.

(Ahem, I'm telling you about it, so I am not one of these noobs! Lol!)
