I am unable to alter the motor speed (suction power) it is permanently on high speed (high suction) rotating the speed switch makes no difference
Most likely the speed control board has failed. The solution for this is to replace the electronic unit unless you know of someone who can diagnose and repair circuit boards. The part is common and easily replaced for around $60. Miele's website can point you in the right direction for a service center, or tell me your zip code and I'll look it up for you.

I just repaired the same problem. It is not the motor. There is a defective capacitor in the regulator. Large grey capacitor should have a value of 0.22uF/275V. It was in my case just 85uF. Changed capaitor and it was OK.

My problem is with the power brush...I checked the belt and cleaned the rotating bar..still very low suction. The canister is still giving me plenty of power...thanks for any help
