I have a gray bar on the left side of my screen on my desk top that I cannot remove to get a full screen. Help.

I went to screen saver to find a solution to get rid of the gray side bar showing up on my desk top screen but could not find how to get rid of it. I want a full screen without the gray bar. Please advise.

Hello. That problem can be hardware, such as a faulty mother board (the video card is part of the mother board on the iMacs). This also depends ont the iMac model that you have. If it is a G5, there was a series problem with condensers on the motherboard, but it is now too late to claim a replacement. If it is a newer iMac with intel chip, I would advise to bring the Mac to an AppleStore near your place or a repair shop for a complete diagnostic.

I think that on an iMac, this kind of problem can't be software related, because it is an all-in-one desktop with no separated screen settings.

Hope that helps

Lenovo b640 model the tool bar is showing on the top but as is drag it on the bottom it is hide or not showing but it is showing on the right and left of the windows 7

Hi
Try right clicking on a part of the task bar and checking that the "Lock Task Bar" is not ticked in the menu that appears, untick it if it is. It shouldn't be as you can drag it to the left or right of the screen. Then click "Properties" and check that the "auto-hide task bar" is not ticked. Again it shouldn't be but untick if it is.
In these circumstances you should be able to drag the task bar to all four sides of the screen and it should remain visible at all times. If it is still not showing at the bottom of your screen, I would suspect that your graphics card is setup to show a larger screen than the actual screen can display, and you need to right click somewhere on the desk top and look at "Screen Resolution" (win7) to see what the settings are and what you can change them to to try and bring the task bar back into view when it is on the bottom.
Do any of your programmes lose their lower parts when viewed full screen?
On today's wide screen profile machines, I often find it better to have the task bar on the side. It takes a little getting used to at first, but after a while I found it more natural than at the bottom.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya

Grey side bar on desk top screen

The picture or image you have chosen does not fit the screen. Go to your system preferences, Desktop &Screen Saver, click on the desktop tab and change the image to "fit the screen" or a variety of other options.

The "Touchpad is very sensitive; if you look while scrolling, the "scroll-bar" will turn (Blue), click on the ("scroll-bar"), until it turn "Gray." Note: "You ca use the Pointer Device / Touchpad without using the Scroll-bar, basically anywhere on the screen; ("bottom scroll-pad" = left to right"), and ("right -side edge scroll-pad = up & down").

MacBook opening screen leaves a one inch black strip on both sides.

use the gray bar on top to move the screen to the upper left hand corner.  Then click and drag the bottom right portion of the screen to the size that you want it be.
