Question about Televison & Video

Mitsubishi TV My older model 35" tube mitsubishi tv becomes blank in the middle of the screen after a few seconds almost like there is another screen popping up in the middle of the larger screen. There is about a 2" border around it where I can see the picture behind it and it is okay in that border. It goes away for a few seconds when I change channels but then comes right back. It does it on any input cable or DVD?

On the remote control, scroll on the video up/down buttons (either one) until you see CC. Next, scroll on the adjust up/down buttons (either one) until you have the CC option you wish to choose.

What you are seeing is called a text box.As Techman indicated,

this function is controlled by closed caption choice. If you cycle

through the cc choices, you will find you are on "text".Set to off

or cc2 or 3, if there is no "off".Experiment with how to activate cc functions and you will then discover how to disable cc and/or text.  Please give rating to techman.

Someone turned on the closed caption my friend. You will have to turn it off with the remote most likely. Since you thought we are fortune tellers and did not leave a model number, we cannot instruct you on how this is done. Most likely there will be a button on the remote that says captions or CC. Good Luck

My tv goes blank with sound only.

tough call. from your decription it could be the tubes the pulsating. but if i had it in the shop i wwould first look at the convergence curcuit. the fact that the on screen display come up in colors inidcates convergence problems. you might have multiple component falure there. as for cost it could be diddicult to say. average repairs like this barring piture tube problem at my shop run 200 labor and about 150 parts. this is just for convergence cuircit rpair

TV is blank and status light is blinking yellow

I think you have a powersupply problem. This model has had alot of problems with bad electrolitic capasitors through out the entire chassi assy. Because of the way the manufacture designed this unit you may be better off getting a Mitsubishi Authorised service company to fix it. If you feel confedent,
check the powersuppy for 2 electrolitic capasitors that are bulging on the top. They will be your culpirts. I believe they will be 25v 2500uf. But don't hold me to it.
Hope this helps,

1993 tube 37" mitsubishi

It looks like the vertical amplifier IC401 is defective. If you have soldering/desoldering skills you can change this part yourself. Also you may have to change C471 (.01UF 50V).
Good Luck.

Mitsubishi WS-55311 flashing screen

First suggestion is to unplug your unit for 24 hours, if does not correct your concerns, you may have fluid leakage from the tubes onto the pc boards. Make sure you have proper air venting around the tv. If problem persist call factory authorized dealer in your area. good luck

Mitsubishis TV Problem

have a Mitsubishi TV 1993. Model CS-35301. The problem is that there is a white line that is running through a blank screen. The sound is fine just no picture. Have you heard of "Vertical Collapse?" I would love to save the TV. Hi nothing to worry just minimise brightness to avoid screen burn. "Vertical Collapse?" means one bright hor.line in the middle of screen. this problem can be solved 1 check vertical yoke connector or wire loose 2 check supply to vertical section which normally comes from EHT transformer check components in vertical section or print loose regards thanks

LG 2010 Plasma 50PA5500 good sound, no picture I'm new, and having much the same problem. My LG50PA5500 TV has been working flawlessly since new. The other day, while in the midst of watching a broadcast DTV channel, the entire screen suddenly and silently went dark; sound, channel selection and inputs all work OK. I have checked connections and voltages from: stdby, pwr supply board fuses, psb output voltages to Zsus board and its fuse, output voltages from Zsus to Ysus and its fuses. All precisely normal !! I've also checked voltages to the other control boards, etc. No indications of cap problems, though they will need to be tested with tester in tomorrow's mail. Also a transistor tester coming. The ONLY slight indication of anything amiss, is a (what I would call!!) light "toasting" (no pun, sorry) about 1.5" in irregular diameter towards the center from the copper coil of the Ysus board. I almost "feel" that that would be consistent with fair wear and tear of 9 years use, but of course, heat is the eternal enemy of electronics. I have very closely examined both X and Y boards, front and back for any damage indications. I have not yet touched the Y buffer boards. If that is the next step, what is it that I should check and the sequence to follow???? I'm kind of at a standstill, and need some direction before I start swapping out boards left and right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx
