There are 2 volume controls on the audio output in windows 7. one is the system volume the other is the device volume. make sure that they are both at full and then control the sound volume on your speakers.
There is a wiper on the back of the volume control that varies the resistance through the switch to control the volume. When you move it back and forth you are scraping the oxides off the switch and making it work again. I suggest you either get some contact cleaner and spray the control from inside (where the wiper is) or just change out the switch.
either your volume button get damaged or the software gets corrupted in your phone.. change the volume button and format the phone.this willl fix your phone..

The "volume control" on your Aiwa is in fact what is called an "encoder". These can fail. They work in concert with the microprocessor to control the electronic volume control IC. Yes this part can be replaced. Try calling Sony with your model number and request the part number for the volume encoder. They should be able to help.
the volume control does give you more control on the volume of the speakers but yea if you just get a cable going from one end to the other and it doesnt have a volume control it will work no problem just control the volume from the task bar, it will work i can guarantee that because i have the same speakers and i tried it out and works perfectly fine, you cant tell the difference because there isnt one just control from task bar!
