Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Convergence/geometry Hi I have a panasonic pt-47wxc43g. I had this tv for about 3 years but didnt know about the image shift option and after 2 years the black bar at bottom was wider than the one at top on wide screen movie. Well before I knew about image shift I got into the service menu(yea I know big mistake), anyway I can get the convergence lined up for the most part but it seems like the geometry is out of whack. Ive messed with settings too much that theres curves where there shouldnt be and straight lines are completely straight anymore. Almost seems like it would need a reset but Im no expert, any help would be appreciated, Thanks

Nope, not master reset or miracle button I'm afraid. You are suppose to write down the settings that you mess with so that in a case like this, you can go back and reset everything where it was. You will now have to call out a tech that knows what they are doing. The servicemen's menu is exactly what it says it is. A SERVICEMANS MENU!

I have a pt-47wxc43g panasonic projection tv and when i turn it on the red light blinks three times and it does not turn on.

Hi,
Three times red light blinking indicates problem of convergence output chips are bad, tv has 2 chips that need to be replaced.
Let me know if you are handy with electronics stuff repair and can replace/ solder parts in circuit board to provide you technical info OR local tv repairman will do this job for you.
Thanks.

Panasonic PT-47WXC43G green ONLY is bowed on bottom and top

Hi,
It still convergence chip problem, check big resistors nearby these chips that would be open or devalued and causing problem, specially in green convergence area, your green tube/ gun is just fine and just not getting convergence output signal to show correct image.
I would suggest to download service manual copy of this tv for small fee from any website and fix the issue with schematics help.
Thanks.

Panasonic PT-47WXC43G Red Color problem

This is a convergence problem; in the customer menu there is an option to adjust it----if red or blue will not move in some direction---one of the two convergence IC's is bad and both need to be replaced.

I have step by step instructions telling what you will need for this repair. They are in Microsoft word----let me know if you want them and I will email them to you. You can buy both chips for this set on Ebay for about 13 dollars plus shipping for a pair.

No picture on pt-47wxc43g

Call a good TV Tech and have him check c509 ECWF2474JSR .47uf -J- 200v It's the yoke return cap. Also check the convergence amp IC's. If they need to be replaced use the STK 392-120 instead of the original STK 392-110.

Replaced convergence chips, have new problem

Did you check the 2.2 ohm 2watt resistors? As often one or two will blow when the old ICs fail. The 3 blink error is indicating a problem with the convergence circuit still.

Small strip of video (about 3 in wide) in the middle of the scree

Just to be sure that I send you in the correct direction, does this strip look like a shrunken picture with no height? In other words is it a horizontal bar?

Thanks,

Cannot adjust convergence, screen has rainbow effect

You probably need to change out the semiconductors. The parts are STK392-110. There are two of them, one for horizontal and one for vertical. Search it online more.
