I have a 1996 maxima with stock radio. The radio and everything works fine but the screen is dead. Is there a way to fix it without buying a new radio? Also my antenna wont go down. I hear the motor but it just wont retract. Is there a way to fix this without buying a new antenna?

No fix for that screen , too costly and cheaper to purchase a new one. The cable inside the antenna is broken . Wrecking yard fix but check it prior to purchase.

I would try a CB radio shop at a truck stop, they will have what you are looking for.

SOURCE: Antenna motor runs while the radio is on or off. The antenna is stuck in the extended position. When the car is shut off the antenna motor continues to run to retract the antenna, but it doesn't go

You need to pull the fuse for the antenna or just unplug it. It has a fairly ridgid plastic wire that pushes the antenna up and down. Works fine until the wire breaks then it rolls up (antenna down) but it never increases resistance because the antenna never comes down , it's like a fishing reel when the lure breaks off, so the motor thinks that the antenna is still coming down and it will run and run and run trying to do it's job. Your lucky it stuck up and not down. If you want your antenna to go up and down again you'll have to buy and install a new one.

SOURCE: Antenna motor runs after car is shut off, without retracting the antenna. I have to disconnect my battery to stop it

Relay #27 in the box under the hood runs only the power antenna on a 1992. For the future here's the parts guide for everything in your jeep. Page 180 has a picture of what you want to pull.

SOURCE: 92 buick century power antenna motor wont shut off

Well, even if you pull the connector (under carpet) apart with gray white and green wires(ones seen going to motor from door gap when opened) it still doesn't stop. next access point is from behind mud gaurd in wheel well. If I can't disconnect it from there I will just cut the bloody wires.

each speaker in your car runs the wiring thru an amp. So each spkear has its own amp for the bose system. You can not hook up a none bose radio If you do you will need to run new wires and replace all the speakers. Sorry.

1996 nissan maxima ever since I put in a new battery the radio and clock do not work. checked fuses all are fine.

Hi,

If this is still the factory head unit then you need to reenter the security code so that it will operate again.
As for the clock, you may have a faulty connector or blown back light bulb. The clock maybe working but you cant see it as the backlighting is not working.

Thanks

My 1996 nissan maxima bose system resets its self

you need to pull the radio out and verify that you have 12 volts all the time at the Pink/Blue wire in the radio connector plug, this is the keep alive memory, without this constant 12 volts the radio will reset every time the key is turned off. I assume you have checked the fuses. If the wire is ok and has 12 volts present then the radio is defective and will need to be sent out for repair..

Sounds like the lens of the laser needs to be cleaned and easiest way is to buy a cd player cleaner but you can take the player apart and clean that lens with a Qtip and some rubbing alcohol.

Fixing car radio myself

Check fuses, if all are good you will have to replace radio. Replacing a radio is quite easy if you use an adaptor from Circuit City for instance, or know your way around a voltmeter. If you can't get either it would be better to have a store/shop put one in for you.
