Haier HLP21N washer won't fill. Water runs right through from the faucet to the drain hose.

After I tried to wash 3 towels and got an unbalance error alarm, I rebalanced the load, but the rinse cycle never finished. Water was coming in and flowing straight out the drain hose. Removed wet towels, turned machine off and on, and tried to run a very small, light load. Tub never filled. Water still running right through.

Is the hose in the sink or on the floor? If in the sink, it sounds like the pump is running all the time. If the hose is too low, it maybe syphoning out the water as fast as its going in.

The drain hose has been going into the toilet and working fine for over a year. The hose positions didn't change today, there was just this imbalanced towel load.

  • Steve F Nov 09, 2013

It definitely sounds like its syphoning. This almost always happens after the first pump out at the end of the first wash and at the start of the first rinse. Lift the hose out of the water in the toilet bowl. I am certain this will fix it. Cheers

Haier HLP21N Pulsator 1-Cubic-Foot Portable Washer. Why won't it completely drain?

Question edited for clarity.

My guess is that your drain hose is too high. The pump is in the base of the washer and pushes the water up the tube and into the drain/ when the pump stops, the residual water in the hose drops back into the base of the machine, so the higher the hose, the greater the column of water.

I have a Haier HWD1600 washer dryer combo that I am getting an error 2 on. It will not drain the water out and I have not been able to clear it for the past two months

Its a common error,
Error message:Drain error, water can be not drained fully within the required drain time
Reason 1. Pump filter is blocked.
Solution 1. Please open and clean the pump filter. (Filter access door is on the bottom right, at floor level of the washing machine)
Step 1.Push a flat blade screwdriver into the slot on the filter cover and pull it open ,do not use excessive force.(Fig 1).
Step 2.Remove the rubber hose from its clip and stand a suitable container under it, remove the bung to drain the water (Fig 2-3)
Step 3.Replace the bung and fit it back into its clip (Fig 4-5).
Step 4. Unscrew the filter and rinse it under running water, replace it and close the flap(Fig 6-7-8).
Caution:
1. The filter must be in place during operation, ensure it is in place after cleaning to avoid leakage.
2.Place a container under the drain pump filter, to collect any excess water that may come out of the drain pump when the filter is removed.

Reason 2. Drain hose end is higher than 100cm above the floor level.
Solution 2. Please adjust the height of drain hose to 80-100cm above the floor.

Reason 3. Drain hose is blocked or twisted.
Solution 3. Please check and clean the drain hose for blockage.

Reason 4. Drain hose is too long, or water is back filling from waste water pipes.
Solution 4. Remove any extension to the original drain hose.
Ensure the highest part of the drain hose is nearest the washing machine.Check the waste water pipes in the building are clear of any obstructions and flow freely.

Is the discharge hose higher than the machine? If it is Lower it will never fill. Don't think there is a shut off in the hose to stop the water discharge.

How long is the fill and drain hose for Haier HLP21E washer?

No need to worry, you can get a new inlet hose & drain hose of any length at any major hardware store. I have the larger Haier outside my kitchen & got a 10' drain hose & inlet hoses & this same situation was instantly solved...

Water problems

If the washer doesn't fill properly, or if only one temperature of water fills the tub, something is probably keeping water from entering the machine or it's draining before the tub fills completely. Set the controls to the first wash cycle, and then try each water temperature setting. If both hot and cold water seem to be entering the washer with good pressure, water may be draining out prematurely during the fill cycle, through siphoning action. Be sure the drain hose's connection to the standpipe is at least 34 inches above the floor (otherwise, discuss the problem with a plumber). An air gap between drain hose and stand pipe that prevents backflow is also good to have. If hot works but cold doesn't, or vice versa: 1) Be sure both the hot and cold water faucets are turned on. 2) Be sure the supply hoses are not kinked. 3) Turn off the faucets. Unscrew the hoses from the faucets and drain them into a bucket. Hold the bucket under the faucets and test them to make sure they both work and have plenty of pressure (see HERE for information on replacing faucets). Screw the hoses back onto the faucets. 4) Unscrew the hoses from the inlet valves and clean the filter screens just inside them; these may be clogged. To do this, pry out the screens with a screwdriver (this can be difficult; the screens may be inside the valves), flush them under running water, then put them back into the hose. If the screens look defective, replace them. Then screw the hoses back onto the valves. Be careful not to cross-thread the hose threads when screwing them back onto the valves. 5) Call an appliance repairperson; there may be a defective inlet valve or a problem with the controls.
