These screens do not like water or chemical cleaners. I would try rubbing a soft damp cloth on a small section then dry it quickly gently with a soft dry cloth. If you see an improvement, clean the rest of the screen that way slowly a section at a time. Thats how I cleaned my Samsung Projection TV screen, I spent 30 min or so doing it but it was not very dirty. Good Luck :)
to pkrivard, check out the Sony website. There have been problems with this kind of TV regarding the defective OPTICAL BLOCK installed in the TV. I have the same model TV and the same problem as yours with the dark spot in the bottom (bluish in color) and I never used cleaner on the screen. They have posted extended warranties on some models of rear projection TV's but also CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS in the U.S. due to problems with their rear projection models. http://sites.google.com/site/sonylcdrptvproblems/sonyrearprojectionlcdtv-opticalblock#TOC-Summary-of-Sony-warranty-extensions

it tells you in the manual not spray the screen with any cleaner. there are a few componets water can drip into. unless you understand how to work on a power supply it is going to need a tech for repair.
Depending on what is in the cleaner it may do no harm at all. The screen will have a anti-glare or anti-reflection coating on the glass. If the cleaner is mild it won't attack this coating. If it attacks it you may see shiny spot.
If you can clean it off without scrubbing ie blot it off don't rub it you may get away without causing any additional harm (if any). If the cleaner doesn't do any harm to the electrics then thats about all that could happen. There are some prducts that can be used to recoat the screens but they are not as durable as the original coating.
Unfortunately, I think you may be out of luck. If you spray a screen directly you are taking a chance at killing your TV. You're actually pretty lucky that it still works. Some chemicals can eat right through or seep through edges and corners and ruin the life of your TV. I am not sure if Mr Clean contains alcohol, but that is the last thing you want on any screen. I would suggest trying to clean it off with an alcohol free solution for HDTV screens only or calling Mitsubishi immediately and see what they have to say.. my celing was leaking like it was raining out side, but my son ran some bath water and for got he turn the water on and left it ran all over the floor, and i'm down stairs watching the water come down full speed on my big scren tv,i tried drying the tv with a floor heater from front to back wake up the next morning tv still dosen't come on.. what can be the problems,............... please you can reach me at [email protected]. i really ned to no i love my tv
Most likely he sprayed the screen, and the fluid dripped down onto the board where the pushbuttons are. The pushbuttons them became contaminated and shorted out inside. Usually, the damage done will not be reversed by drying the set out. He should not feel bad, though, because we see adults doing that all the time. The TV has not "had it", since it is quite easy to correct. The board should be cleaned and any defective pushbuttons replaced by a qualified tech.
i ment dry on its own
