Probably ur pen drive is not authentic or something like dat.... try to change the partition to NTFS or FAT and then format it......If u hav 16gb pendrive fill the pendrive with 15gb of data then u will come to know wheater its 16gb or not.....

Right click in Windows explorer and select format. You can also verify space and format using disk management

click start all programs accessories open windows explorer you will see your drive usually C: unless its a usb it might be another D: E: F: drive right click select properties you will see how much used and free space you have hope this helps

Did you try to move the white switch on the side for the chip?

it's works on unknown capacity format problem


Requirements: A "corrupt" USB thumb/flash drive, and windows vista/7.


First of all, RESTART YOUR PC...(this is the only way it worked for me...hopefully it works the same for you)


1. Plug-in your USB flash drive to USB port.


2. Open Command Prompt with admin rights. Use any of the below methods to open Command Prompt.


*Type cmd in Start menu*


3. You need to know about the USB drive a little bit. Type in the following commands in the command prompt:


>>> First type DISKPART and hit enter to see the below message. (this opens the disk-partition manager)


>>> Next type LIST DISK command and note down YOUR FLASH DRIVE'S Disk number (eg: Disk 1). BE CAREFUL NOT TO CHOOSE YOUR PRIMARY HARD-DRIVE.


4. Next type all the below commands one by one. Here I assume that your disk drive no is "Disk 1".If you have Disk 2 as your USB flash drive then use Disk 2.Refer the above step to confirm it.
So below are the commands you need to type and execute one by one:


SELECT DISK 1


CLEAN


CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY


SELECT PARTITION 1


ASSIGN


FORMAT FS=NTFS
(Format process may take few minutes)


EXIT


If you did everything exactly, then your USB drive should be goos as new.

Make sure your system can support that capacity.

try other usb port, or other computer, if still have problem, download a usb recovery software, one I used before is Asoftech Data Recovery, you can follow this guide for usb recovery
