Samsung YP-U2 MP3 Player won't play songs

My mp3 player works fine as a usb drive, i can store files correctly, it is recognised by the computers etc... but when i turn it on as a player, it says "No file". i tried to format it, nothing changed. i plugged it on an apple computer a few days ago, and that's when the problem started. Does anyone know what i should do?

Which was did you try and format it? throught "My Computer" or using the software that came with it?

If you used software that come with it to format try using the way through my computer which may resolve it or do the opposit format using the software if you haven't already tryed.

To do it through my computer first connect your mp3 player then go to "My Computer" now look for your device usualy called "Removable Disk" once you've found it Right-click" on it then click "Format" once format is complete disconnect then with a bit of luck the problems fixed.

Good luck. Hope my solution was helpful in some way. Further problems leave a comment on here and i will get back to you a.s.a.p.

How to dowload music to yp-u2

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet toyour computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs tomp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and thencopy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable tothe MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.Click on this link for instruction on converting musicfiles to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files

I have a samsung yp-u2 mp3 player, but dont have the software to install or remove music on the mp3 player. I have tried the download.com and also samsung site, they dont have it either.

You don't need that actually. The computer will just recognized this as removable drive. Open up My Computer then plug the device on USB port, then it will pop up as removable/additional drive. Explore, then goto folder or file folder usually MUSIC folder or where you put the music files.

You can drag and drop MP3 files and delete it. Software dismount it and take off and you are ready to play it.

Hope this helps you.

The drive fails to be recognised by windows.

USB devices can be flaky and there's no end to stories like yours. I've had a couple, however, that were resolved by simply going into the hardware screen, removing the device, restarting the machine and letting Windows redetect it. It should have retained the driver and will reload it. Also, make sure its not a cable problem... Good luck!
