Milky white picture

I have an old Quasar 27" TV (SX2751HE) that now has a milky white picture when it is turned on. As it warms up, the picture improves but not to a sharp picture. A local technician suggested the flyback transformer was going bad but I do not get any pops or hissing from the TV. Any other thoughts? Is this worth fixing?

Could be a bad resistor on the screen amp board causing excessive brightness. this will wash out the picture and cause fine diagonal lines in the picture. Without seeing it this is only a guess.

I changed the oil four times and its still milky

If your oil is milky you are getting moisture in the crankcase. Does this unit set outside? make sure your crankcase vent is clear.

Milky oil dipstick, white exhaust smoke, coolant in spark plugs

*White milky oil on dipstick = coolant in oil.
*Coolant on sparkplugs = cracked head or blown head gasket
*White smoke = burning excessive oil in the cylinders, which can be caused by a number of things including valve seals, cracked head or blown head gasket.
***All three of these symptoms together, however, means its the head or head gasket. Both are costly but better the head gasket than the entire head.

Quasar TV sp 2724E Loses the picture

Sounds like a failed vertical amplifier circuit. This is normally primarily contained in an integrated circuit mounted on a heatsink.
There are other possibilities along the line but the one above is the most likely.
Now all you need is a TV repair shop that is still in buisness.
