Display is black when taking a photo and in playback. photo has been taken. camera: canon digital ixus500

Hello, You should contact Canon about the situation. Let them know you are aware of the problem CCD sensor on the S1 camera. Actually S1 is repaired free of charge because of the CCD problem. You should suggest that your camera probably has the same defect as the S1. See what they say. If you need more info please advice. Arpi

Think that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

in the rear side display mode switch is there. you just press the switch once or twice.you can able to see live images
