If the Motherboard is compatible only then its possible. However it rarely does match properly! If there is a miss-match then it will never work properly...................sodeep

The motherboard manual specifies which type of processors this board is compatible with. If not sure check up from your local retailer or from the mobo's manufacturers website...........sodeep

Is there a cpu upgrade for an hp pavilion 6835 with a motherboard 115561 cognac 20000731

The fastest Pentium 3 that will work in your board is a Intel Pentium III 1GHz chip. Here is a link to the specs:
http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium-III/Intel-Pentium%20III%201000%20-%20RB80526PY001256%20%28BX80526F1000256%29.html

You could also get a Intel Celeron 1.1 GHz but it only has half the level 2 cache size so it's actually a bit slower than the Pentium III 1GHz chip.
Here's a link to celeron specs:

What type of dual core processor can I use for my dc7600?

The motherboard for the dc7600 has an Intel LGA775 processor socket. However, not all LGA775 processors are compatible with the motherboard. For the small form factor, the following CPUs are supported: Intel Celeron D Processors:
Intel Celeron D 331 Processor (2.66-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Celeron D 336 Processor (2.80-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Celeron D 346 Processor (3.06-GHz, 256K L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB)
Intel Pentium 4 Processors with HT Technology:
Intel Pentium 4 521 Processor (2.8-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB) , Intel Pentium 4 524 Processor (3.06-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB) , Intel Pentium 4 541 Processor (3.2-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 620 Processor (2.8-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 630 Processor (3.0-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 631 Processor (3.0-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 640 Processor (3.2-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 641 Processor (3.2-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 650 Processor (3.4-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 651 Processor (3.4-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium 4 661 Processor (3.6-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB) or
Intel Pentium D Dual Core Processors:
Intel Pentium D 805 Dual Core Processor (2.66-GHz, 2x1MB L2 cache, 533-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 820 Dual Core Processor (2.8-GHz, 2x1MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 915 Dual Core Processor (2.8-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 925 Dual Core Processor (3.0-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 930 Dual Core Processor (3.0-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 940 Dual Core Processor (3.2-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 945 Dual Core Processor (3.4-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB), Intel Pentium D 950 Dual Core Processor (3.4-GHz, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)

Unfortunately, these are old processors and I don't see any available new. Newegg.com lists a couple available as refurbished. You may be better off getting a new computer with either a Intel I3 or current AMD processor.

I wish that I had better news for you.

Can I upgrade to a Intel Pentium D 945 3.40ghz processor. Intel (Augsburg) 915G Motherboard

No, the Intel (Ausberg) 915G motherboard will not support dual core processors.

The Intel (Ausberg) 915G motherboard uses an Intel 915G motherboard chipset,

http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERBD/Intel2/102007/102007sp33.shtml

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_intel_chipsets#Pentium_4.2FPentium_D.2FPentium_EE_Chipsets

Supports only Single Core processors.

It isn't until the Intel 945G motherboard chipset, that Dual Core processors are supported.

[NOTE*
The Intel Celeron D is a Single Core processor.
The Intel Pentium D is a Dual Core processor,

Intel Celeron D,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celeron_D#Celeron_D

"The Intel Celeron D processor works with the Intel 845 and 865 chipset families. The D suffix actually has no official designation, and does not indicate that these models are dual-core. It is used simply to distinguish this line of Celeron from the previous, lower performing Northwood and Willamette series, and also from the mobile series, the Celeron M (which also uses 3xx model numbers). Unlike the Pentium D, the Celeron D is not a dual core processor."

Intel Pentium D,

Don't 'shoot the messenger'. I just state the facts.

Can i change a used processor on a other computer?

Check to make sure that both computers have the same socket type, it should be printed directly on the connection for the processor. If the sockets match, you should have no problems dropping the new processor in it. Incompatible processors simply won't fit in the motherboard, so if you can't seem to get the processor to fit properly, it's most like incompatible.
