Hello, I have a Goldstar GWHD5000 wall unit.I have allways kept my filter clean. Started today entire inside coils behind filter has a full sheet of ice. I let it thaw out ran on high fan afterwards setting #1 and still froze up after 30 min.2 years old only cost $90.00 new. Is it cheaper for a new one or can i fix for under $40.00. Thanks,Gary
Cleaned the filters March lst--was away a few days and it was during the recent heat wave--went to clean filters and the unit is frozen up, thick ice covered it. I had turned off and have a call in to the company that installed it. Is sthere anything else I should do or is thawing it out going to solve thel problem.

if it's weird like musty then clean the machine, coil, new filter or clean the washable filter and make sure it's draining well but if its weird as in burning wires have the machine checked before you use it again.
Make sure that the unit is properly mounted in the opening (I take it it's in a window) and that it is level or at least not tipping inward as in the outside being higher than the inside. If unsure about how to mount it properly, consult your owners manual. Your installation should be reasonably close to the illustrations.
Yes there is a hole in the rear underneath. Make sure that it is not plugged. The ac needs to be cleaned every year for good workmanship. Make sure that the ac is tilted back allittle so the water or condensation will drain. Sometimes I've seen one where it was tilted towards the inside of the house and the fan would pickup some of the water and put a mist in the house which is not good. If We can be anymore help let us know and thankyou1
No! You will not likely find any service on a product which has very little value. Frosting will sometimes happen if the outside temperature is to low. The outside ambient temperature is directly related to the pressures inside the refrigerating system. The lower the outside temperature is the lower the pressures will be in the cooling end of the air conditioner. In mechanical refrigeration pressures and temperatures are directly related.
