Sounds like a bad cord. There are lots of cheap cords that fail easily these days.

Any ideas how I remove both the mixing bowl & blade that won't release from my hardly used (maybe 10x's) Kitchen Aid Food Processor?

It sounds like the blade has become jammed on the motor shaft sleeve. You will be up for a new blade and motor shaft sleeve to sort that out. They are not expensive and it is the only proper fix for them. If you replace nothing it will happen again pretty much straight away and if you only do one the other damaged part will wreck the new part. To solve the not turning on problem which is a separate issue it will very likely involve replacement of either the bowl or the lid. One is as likely as the other, I have both parts in stock so I try one or the other to decide which one is the problem. Getting the blade off is a real chore, I have a small chain (with welded links so very strong) I put a couple of turns around the big blade shaft and fix it there with a shackle. It's about 2.5 meters long so I attach the other end to the leg of my bench and accelerate the motor unit away from the bench. The chain comes tight and shocks the blade off. I then drill a hole through the motor shaft about 8 mm from the top, attach the chain to that with a shackle and shock it off just like the blade. New parts now and job done.

I have a Vita Mix 3600. I was making a fruit smoothie (banana, blueberry, raspberry), milk, small scoop of protein powder . Speed was on 1. I depressed the lever to reverse. I don't remember if I had...

Yes that is strange, if you let it cool down and try it again with pushing the re-set button and still does not work, try plugging it into a different outlet. Find something in your place that you know outlet is working, lamp, toaster you know. If does work in another out let, then you of course griped that breaker. Then check your breaker box to see what breaker is tripped, and switch it back on, might just of had a power surge based on putting on reverse. If that don't work, I suppose possibly something in motor or switch went out. Please let me know, if it works, I will take a banana smoothie LOL

Drive gear is slipping. Motor turns but the blade fails to turn

sounds like a shear pin either on the motor or the blade assembly. If you put the blender on low without the cannister on top touch the gear on top of the unit and see if the gear slips or stops. Use a pencil or something..Not your finger. If it stoops then the pin is broken at the motor. If not, it is broken at the blade unit.

Hope this helps

Krups 572 Power Xtreme VI Work Top

Repairing the blender:
My guess: You worked the motor too hard on your last blending session and it overheated. That will cause a thermal fuse inside to cut off. The blender won't work again until you replace the fuse but otherwise it should be fine. The fuse looks like a white diode and it will be attached tightly to the motor with a nylon strap (so that it can pick up the heat of the motor). The leads to the fuse are shielded with heat resistant nylon wrap. You will need to remove the rubber drive gear in order to remove the plastic house so you can work, although if you are really handy you might be able to at least test the unit by only removing the plastic bottom on the base unit.

To remove the plastic housing, remove the little rubber feet and then remove all of the screws on the bottom of the unit. You may need to buy a bit set for tamper resistant screws (I ***hate*** those), I don't remember. When the bottom is removed, you will see that the there is a screw head on the bottom of the central motor shaft. You can use a screw driver here to hold the motor from turning, then you can carefully use a pliers to unscrew the rubber drive gear on the top of the base unit (try not to damage the rubber). With the gear removed you can get access to the wires.

To test the fuse unit, just check its continuity. Short=good, open=bad. To further test, short out the fuse with a jumper cable and your blender should work.

EPO (Electronics Parts Outlet) in Houston, TX, has the replacement fuse unit. I don't know that they like mail order.

Intelli blender will not work

Do you hear it hum when you try to turn it on?
If yes, remove the cup. Try again... if the motor runs, try moving the blade by hand. If it is seized, remove it and clean it to free it again.
If not, possibly blown windings on the motor or divider circuit (which supplies different voltages to the motor for the different blend speeds). Repair will be required in either case.
