The microwave was accidentally used without the glass turntable

My microwave oven is an older model (Magic Chef MCO153UB Microwave Oven) and the oven was accidentally used to try and microwave a small bag of popcorn without the glass turntable and shut down completely before finishing the time...this was done before I realized the warnings about never operating it w/o the turntable...i unplugged it and let it sit for a few minutes and then tried plugging it back in....but it doesn't want to turn on...what's the problem? is there a quick and inexpensive way to fix this? please help!!

It mkay just be the overload fuse inside the back panel. I highly recommend a certified electrician or repairman to change this. Good luck

SOURCE: magic chef microwave shuts down

We had the same problem with our brand new Magic Chef. Before going through the trouble of taking it back I called Home Depot. After talking to a Home Depot Rep I am told that the overheat sensor is under the glass plate directly beneath the popcorn bag. Popcorn gets very hot and the heat of the popcorn causes the sensor to shut the machine down. I would imagine this would be the same for a baked potato.
Very poor design.
I was told to put a microwave safe plate down and put the popcorn bag on it. This should help to reduce the heat and not trip the sensor.
A safety sensor is great, but not if it keeps tripping the machine and shutting down!

What causes vibration with the turntable?

It could be the turntable motor but you need to check for food debris under the 3 point stand that the platter rests on. Take the stand out of the oven and check the wheels etc, Magic Chef Microwave Turntable Motor 3966820810

You can look for (have seen and used them) a wind up type that you put in the oven and they for the price work ok.

Microwave has not got a hub for turntable

buy one of the wind up ones that last time I looked were still available on places like EBAY.

It might considering the cost of a new unit be cheaper and better to measure it and replace it?

Turntable

The turntable motor is defective, since it is 6 months old your warranty should cover the repair or replacement of the microwave oven.

Cook time button problems

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

Please reply back here and let us know if the hard reset doesn't fix it.

It may have a bad door switch, and we can help you check into that. The first test for that is to try it while gently lifting up and then while gently pushing down on the door.
