You can use a paperclip to open it.
On the front of the DVD you'll see a little pinhole; unrwist a paperclip and push the leg of the paperclip into that hole; it will manually push open the DVD tray

How do I insert DVD into the tower part of computer?

now this depends on what make pc you have.
if there's no fancy pop down cover in front of the dvd tray, there is a button just underneath it to the right that you press.
if there is a fancy door then you might have to press this on the bottom right or there's a button on the right hand side.
if all else fails, hold down the windows key and press E. in the window that opens, right click the dvd drive in the left hand list and select eject.

DVD door will not open to eject DVD

There could be 2 reasons, 1. Hardware issue 2. Software drivers:
Fixing 1: Hardware
Make sure the DVD is fixed properly in your tower ( I am not sure whether you are using a tower or lappi)

The direct solution is to put a pin i the small hole present on your DVD player. That should open the DVD door.

To fix the software part.
>> Try to update the drivers depending on the operating system you are using.

>> Download the latest drivers to check if it fix the issue.

>> Open the My computer >> Right click on the CD/DVD drive and select Eject, this will normally open the door.

Else, try to uninstall the drivers from Device Manager and then restart the PC once, this will reinstall the drivers once again by its own if your Windows is up to date.

Please do get back to us, if that does'nt fix.

How do I open the door to my CD/DVD player on my eMachine Tower. I use to know how but as an old lady I need help remebering now. please help

There should be a button just below the cd tray on the front of the tower. If I remember correctly, on E-Machines there is a black bar just below the tray, and the button is a small section of this bar. If you press along the bar you should find a place that presses in. That will be the button to eject the tray.

Another way to do this is to click on "My Computer", there should either be a link on your desktop, or in the start menu. In this window you should see your disk drive, usually "D:\". Right click on this icon, and there should be a menu option called "Eject", which will open the drive for you.

Thanks,

I cannot open DVD door. I am not sure what model my tower is and I cannot find manuel

If the door on your CD/DVD drive will not open when you push the eject button (on the front of the drive), Click on Start, My Computer, and Right Click on your CD/DVD drive. Then Click on Eject. If the door still refuses to open, you can insert a paper clip into the small hole on the faceplate of the drive and push it in until the door opens. If the door continues to refuse to open in the normal manner, you will have to replace the drive,

I purchased an emachine desktop at an estate sale that had a note on the tower saying it had a new had drive installed and never used. So I purchase it and brought it home, hooked it up and turned it on. ...

Is the 'New hard drive installed, never used' bit relevant? Open the tower, get hard drive...
PC bought at auction won't switch on ?? Anything is possible, from 'It's really an empty tower with a brick in it for weight' .. to any number of usual suspects.. The fact that most PC computer 's make a beep and light up stuff when switched on for instance relies on the presence of a working PSU.
Your diagnostic approach would begin there.
