Fax sending problem - error code 81

I have HP Color Laserjet CM3530fs MFP

1. Whenever I have multipage fax the machine returns an error code "Jobe Fail (81)".

2. Faxing one page is OK.

3. Also, I have one send and receive communication error in every ten transmissions too.

Greetings John,
This error is for 81 Z no user profile for pre-process.81 error indicates that a temporary error has occured while testing. If cycling the power does not solve the problem you should replace the formatter board.
Also It could be a problem with the power supply or DC controller. There may fluctuating power issues with the formatter. Also did you replace the network card after replacing the formatter or did you use the same network card that was replaced before the formatter was replaced. It may be the new network card may have been damaged by the old formatter and gives the same problem now, and using the damaged network card may have messed up the formatter again. To test this replace both formatter and network card together.

What is the status of your black cartridge? Is it new? used? Real HP cartridge or 3rd party. 3rd party are notorious for poor print quality. I would test a different black cartridge first to eliminate that as the problem. Post back your results and I can provide further guidance.

First thing that you want to do is upgrade the firmware on this machine. Clear the print queue of all jobs and then restart. If machine will come to ready, then go to HP.com and download the easy firmware update. Run that update and that should cure your problem.

Error Code 223 (ECM error)

The receiving product has been unable to receive an entire page even after multiple attempts to rereceive the parts of the page that contain errors. This is usually due to extremely poor line conditions.

1. Reattempt the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved.
2. If the error persists, disable ECM. Errors may still occur, and may result in degraded image quality on the received page. However, the ability to receive the entire document will be improved.

V.34 negotiations have failed from the originating product during phase four, which occurs after V.8 and before the first T.30 frames are exchanged. Compatibility problems have been observed in this area when sending to non-HP units.

I had the same problem and just solved it by going into Setup - then Fax Setup - then All Faxes - Then Speed - and lowering the speed from fast to medium. Sure it's a couple seconds slower, but it finally works!!!
