This will surely lead to the red ring of death people are talking about, i got that the other day, sent my xbox to microsoft and they fixed it for me for free, But you cant have your warranty sticker broken or they wont touch it. Microsoft will fix it for free since it is a problem for nearly all the xbox 360 they made.
The Xbox 360 is known for this. I would contact Microsoft as soon as possible.

Three red lights means your 360 is dying. Hopefully it's still under warranty - and keep in mind that Microsoft extended the warranty for the 3 red light issue to 3 years, instead of just one. So if you bought it within the last 3 years, just call Xbox customer service at 1-800-4MY-XBOX. Be prepared to be on hold for a while. I believe you can also do this online. They will send you a box and packing instructions, and they even pay for the shipping. Once you send it, you should get it back in about 2 weeks (or more likely a new 360).
