Please follow the instructions below for unlocking your Philips HTS 3371

Please note: Unlocking a DVD player may invalidate the warranty. Unlock sequences may not work with some firmware updates and some DVD players have been damaged through failed attempts to unlock them. Unlocking your DVD player is done at your own risk.


1. Switch the DVD player ON
2. OPEN the disc tray
3. Key 9 9 9 9 0 using the Philips remote control supplied with the player
4. Press PLAY. The disc tray will close.
5. Switch the player OFF then switch ON again.
6. To test, play a disc from a region which was previously locked.

If it does not work the first time, switch the player off and back on, then try again.

This is a verified unlock method, but I was unable to confirm whether it works for players sold locked to Region 1 (North America). If you have a Region 1 player and the method above does not work, you will not be able to unlock your player.

Find the unlock code for your Sony DVD player model. The DVD Demystifiziert and Video Help websites both provide unlock codes for Sony players that can be unlocked and made region-free. To view the code for your DVD player, click on the model of your DVD player in the Sony hack list on the website.

Perform the tasks included in the unlock code. For most Sony models that can be unlocked, the unlock code is not as simple as pressing a few buttons. You may need to open the tray on the player or power the unit on and off multiple times as part of the hack.

Turn the unit off and then on again after you have entered your unlock code, even if the code doesn't include this step. Once you power the unit back on, it should be region-free and should be able to read any DVD that you insert in the tray.

NOTE: Not all Sony players can be unlocked to be region-free. According to the DVD Demystifiziert page, no unlock codes are available for Sony models DVP-NC85H, DVX-11A, SLV-D980P and SLV-D500P.

Keep in mind that unlocking a Sony DVD player almost always voids the unit's warranty.

Not all models can be unlocked. It is now possible to buy a region free DVD player. If your player cannot be unlocked, then you will have to invest in to a region free DVD player.
