Cambridge audio 640a problem, olume goes to zero, I hear a little bang on speakers, light starts blinking!

This sounds like there's an overload in the main amp section. Often caused by a short-circuited device.

Cambridge soundworks radio 730 display and or controls lock up

I recently posted a problem with a cambridge soundworks 730 which had a display problem with unreadable characters and/ or ALL of the controls would lock up after being on for 1-2 hours and could be fixed temporarily by unpluging and then pluging back in Luckily I was able to find another display board and that took care of the problem and eliminated the tuner board and the power supply board in the back as possibilities. there are several chips on this board so a service manual would be necessary to pinpoint this particular problem or a replacement board from the manufacturer OR buy a broken one on ebay that does not have the same symptoms and make one good one out of two and you will also have extra parts.BE CAREFUL WITH THE RIBBON CABLE WHEN YOU REATTACH IT TO THE DISPLAY BOARD its a little tight and must be pushed back in evenly. It might be easier to take the whole radio apart and disconnect it from the tuner board which is a straight run whereas on the display board end its at an awkward angle

Cambridge Audio Azur 640R AV Recorder won't switch off

Sounds like the unit is victim of a power surge. The power control board is probably damaged. You will be better off replacing the amp as having it repaired will cost more than replacing it.

Since gales last week and flickering house lights for over 24 hours my cambridge audio a740 won't switch on. Any connection? Not the plug fuse. Help.

Just take the top off! As long as it's unpluged from the mains you wont hurt yourself.

I need a psu for a Cambridge Audio Azur 540P phono preamp

any stepdown transformer rated 12V secondary with at least 0.5A rating would do (12V, 500mAmp). I know they said to use only the supplied power unit but hey that's business! but make sure whether your mains supply is 110Vac or 220Vac.

NO SOUND FROM DIGITAL TUNER

Hi Guys, I have been doing some research on this problem and found that during manufacture of the Cambridge Audio DAB range that they had used substandard voltage regulators in these units. I have repaired a number of theses all with similar faults and every time replacing the 5v voltage regulators with LM340T5s and capacitor upgrade from 2200uf 16v to 4700uf 16v this will solve all the problems.

Hi Paulus
A lot brand of speakers, like Sound Blasters, Logitech, Cambridge, has this (strange) kind of volume problem, sometimes, is the resistor, in the volume control, sometimes in the modulator for the board on the sound speakers, Subwofer.
I use a general tip is let the volume in one setting and don't move in the intermediate low volume say....9 .
