SOURCE: Dell 1800FP has slight yellow cast

Your Display cable (inside your monitor) needs to be replaced. (Or reseated)

I would look on ebay to try and find the part and then take it to a local tech to replace it for you as I would not recommend anyone take apart a monitor (LCD OR CRT) if you had never done so before.

SOURCE: Dell 1800FP Dark, No Power but power supply seems fine. Help!

I just repaired 3 1800FP's - all dead, no lights.
Firstly a dead 2AS01 is 95% of the problem, because some fool designer left out the protective zener diode - cheapness.
Mouser Electronics does not have this part, but lists it at 37 cents in lots of 2500, and gettable at $2.66 somewhere else.
You must also replace the two small value electrolytics near this IC, as some had an ESR of 40 where <0.5 is where it should be.
I suppose as the electro's dry out, the spikes can zap the IC. The quacks on ebay flogging 2sa01's alone, probably hope to sell you another one down the track (at a fat markup).

There are 2 'Sam Young 2200uf' electros that really should be replaced, with ESR or 2-30 ! Ideally replace ALL electros, as the others will be off - but those 4 as a minimum and using a jewelers loupe, resolder other joints on the transformer and anything that looks more dull silverish, than the rest. A 1 inch used and worn paint scraper will get the case open easy.

DANGER, CAUTION : Finally when refitting the inverter board, ensure the steel tab is over the TOP middle of the board facing away from the power socket (SO YOU CAN SEE IT) . The board sides in flat. It is possible to scew the board down with a slight bend, with the tab pressing over the pcb tracks - very , very bad!

Now all I need is for some kind soul to improve the fix by stating what the value of the missing zener should be.

PS. Just because the caps are not bulging does not mean they should be OK. Most wrecked 10 year old power supplies have better ESR's, so the electronics must be hot under the cover.
I have seen bulging caps with a GOOD ESR, and non bulging ones with an ESR of 47.

SOURCE: how to disassemble monitor Dell 1800fp ?

Remove the base by the button release or 4 screws on the back. On the bottom of the monitor near the corners you will find two thin slots where you can insert a thin wide blade screwdriver or pry tool. Very gently pry the back from the bezel toward the center from both of these slots until the bottom is seperated, then contilue from the slots around the corners and up the sides until you have seperated the entire back from the bezel. Lay the monitor on the bezel and remove the back ( do not try to remove the bezel, at least not yet). Lift the tape that secures the ribbon cable from the bezel buttons to the logic board. Unplug the ribbon cable from the logic board by pulling on the connector (not the cable). Remove the cable covers from the back of the case (one has a screw, the other has a lift tab) and disconnect the lamp connectors and ribbon cable connectors (do not pull on the wires). remove four screws and lift the metal back from the screen.

SOURCE: Dell 1800FP monitor. Will not power up at all.

Take it apart and check the fuse. Sometimes is just a simple component damaged.
Have it checked in a specialist electronics house if you prefer.

Testimonial: "Thank you, I will see if this is the problem."

SOURCE: My Dell 1800FP monitor went black

Confirm your cables did not work themselves loose. Try using a different power cable to confirm that it was not the cable. Finally try a lamp in the socket you are using for the monitor power cable, if you are not using a power bar but even then just to rule that out. If the only thing left is that your monitor is dead, you will need to recycle that one and purchase yourself another one. Sorry
