I have a GoGear device that won't charge

Its a GoGear SA31xx and charges via usb, but when its plugged into my PC it just doesnt charge at all. It recognises its plugged in and i can upload stuff to it but the battery symbol stays on low and it won't stay on for more than a few seconds after its been unplugged. I tried resetting it but no luck... any ideas?

Hi, I had the same problem with my SA31xx, when I plugged it into my PC it made the normal usb sounds and then a flash symbol appeared over the battery on the screen. It would not charge at all, I replaced the usb cable and it now works perfectly. Hope this helps.

Have you tried enabling the keypad lock? The slide for this can be seen on one edge of the player. See if this makes a difference.

My philips gogear vibe wont turn on

Reset your GoGear with something sharp like the tip of a pen or the end of a paper clip,

if you're device isn't working properly or there's a frozen display.

Insert the sharp object into the "Reset" hole (located at the bottom of the player), and hold it there until the device turns off.

If resetting the device does nothing to restore the display, access the "Philips Device Manager" through your computer to recover the GoGear.

Click "Start" on your computer, then "Programs," "Philips Digital Audio Player," "Aria Device Manager," and then "Philips Device Manager."

This will launch the "Philips Device Manager." Make sure the GoGear is turned off completely. Connect your GoGear to your computer while holding down the "Volume Up" button.

Continue to hold the "Volume Up" button on your GoGear, until the "Philips Device Manager" recognizes the device and enters recovery mode.

Click the "Repair" button when it appears on your computer, then folow the steps to fully recover the GoGear.

Properly disconnect your GoGear from your computer and restart the device.

Recharge your device if your GoGear dies suddenly while playing.

Connect the GoGear to your computer via the supplied USB cord.

Plug one end of the USB cord into a functional, open USB port on your computer. Plug the free, smaller end of the USB cord firmly into the small USB jack on your GoGear and turn your computer on.

This will begin the charging process of your GoGear.

If recharging doesn't work, the battery may need to be replaced.

Check that your GoGear isn't in standby mode. Hold the "Power" button for two seconds to turn it back on.

hope this helps

When I try to turn on the MP3 (Philips GoGear Mix) I see a symbol of a battery and then it shuts down. When I plug the MP3 to the computer it shows it is fully charged. What shell I do? Thanks

I have had a GoGear for a while and those things have horrible firmware and are very fragile. I have experienced the same issue myself, so I suggest leaving it plugged in for several hours no matter what the screen says to try and let it charge. It should charge up. If not, try charging via a usb wall charger, which should allow usage of the player while it charges.

Panasonic HM-TA1 won't power on with battery fully charged.

The battery will not charge when the device is turned on. Make sure that when you connect it to your computer via its usb that you do not turn it on otherwise it wont charge.

The annoying thing about this device is that when you connect it to your computer and turn it on, on the LCD it will say "connecting via usb" and the memory bar will show that it is fully charged, however the battery is not. This must just be a design flaw as the battery won't be charged.

Just remember to plug it in and leave it, do not turn it on!

I have 2 philips gogear mp3 players do I need to have to different software(s) installed? it's not charging. it's the 2gb one.

if they are the same model you anly need to install the driver once for both ...and the charging problem might be from the usb slot and not from the mp3 player ...cause there is no way that both to have the same issue ..
so change the slot and try again ...pay attention if on connecting you do not need to confirm from the mp3 itself the tip of connectivity ...charging or ..pc communication ..
another thing that might be is that it is not charging when it is on storage connectivity ..and in this case click on the remove safe icon ...in the tray system (lower right on task bar ) ..and choose remove and select the device ..but leave it plugged..it will stop the memory communication and it is a chance that wills tart being in charging mode..But usually this kinda devices that charge via USB slot..start charging from the moment you connect them into a good slot ..no matter if the driver is present or not..

Can I charge my Magellan roadmate with USB cable connected to the computer?

It depends on the Roadmate that you have. :
- If your Roadmate has a separate plug-in port for charging your unit IN ADDITION TO a USB port, then no, your Roadmate cannot be charged using your computer via the USB cable.
- If your Roadmate only has a USB port available for charging your unit, then yes, you can charge it via your computer via USB.
However, please note, according to Magellan, charging your unit using your PC via USB can take up to 12 hours to charge vs. 4-6 hours when using the vehicle power adapter.
FYI: This is mainly due to USB constraints on pretty much all electronic devices. USB cannot carry the same amount of power to a device. It uses what is commonly known as a 'trickle' charge to recharge a device. It carries much less current than a full-blown charger (like an AC power adapter).

Cant format mp4 philips sa312455

i can solve your problem..its an easy way.since you have specified that your computer doesnt recognise it, you have to generate the system file. you can do this by either record a voice and save the file in your device. then connect your device to your computer. it will detect it and you can format and upgrade . the only thing is somehow you have to record the voice in your device.

Does Gogear charge via the USB plug or only via the 13 amp plug

You should be able to use the play side but I do not think you will be able to charge it.
The transmitter side is taken from the earphone socket.
The power comes from the mains plug via. the Philips lead and is at 5 volts.
I could be telling you wrong as I do not know what adaptor you are looking to purchase.

Device manager wont detect my gogear HDD1630/17 even though i recently updated the software and driver, also my device is frozen on "Please connect player to pc". I can't even get it back to the menu...

I was experiencing this similar problem, and from my research so were alot of other people, what finally worked for me was this:

  • Update all the software on your computer via Phillips site
  • Open the Philips Device Manager
  • With the device connected and the 'connected to pc' screen showing on the GoGear, do a 'soft reset' by holding the Power Off + Volume Up buttons for a few seconds
  • As soon as the device restarts itself, hold the Volume Down button, the computer should now recognize the GoGear
  • Follow the onscreen directions to Repair the device
  • Thank the intarwebs.
