Getting Lens Error, restart camera problem when i start my camera

  • blackdove Nov 10, 2007

I am having the same problem as well. Is there a specific way to restart the camera (other than turning it on and off which doesn't work). Can this lens error be fixed? I've never had any problems in the past.

The following blog outlines some repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try:

Have Canon EOS Rebel Xsi Digital. Burning smell and flash busy.

Are you trying to use the flash when you are having the problem? Were you taking a lot of pictures with flash when the problem started? Rapid pictures with flash can melt the flash and capacitors in the camera. Also, a single drop of water rolling around inside the camera in the right place can do things like that. You can try taking pictures in bright sunlight so the camera will not try to use the flash and see if it will work normally, If it does than something is probably fried in the flash system. Bad thing is that if you smelled smoke something is most likely already fried and will have to be repaired by canon. Canons quality has been going down hill for several years now and they have a lot of quality problems. If the camera has been used very little, has never been abused, dropped or wet and not far out of warranty, try using google to see if this is a common problem and call canon and try to get them to repair it for free. If all else fails threaten to replace it with a Nikon assume pay to have barely used camera fixed.

PowerShot SD630 lens stuck out, says lens error, restart camera

This is probably THE single most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

I have the sd1000 power shot canon. i was taking a picture the camera took the picture as normal but when trying taking another shot i got an lens error restart camera.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

One thing, you mentioned that the lens error occurred after you wer able to take a good picture. This really sounds like your battery ran down during shooting, and did not have sufficient power to properly shutdown the camera. Focus on your battery as the potential cause first. Note that if the battery is older than a couple years, it may be time for a new one. Rechargeable are not meant to last indefinitely.

Resetting EX-V7 error message

Hey Go here
http://world.casio.com/qv/download/en/ex_v7_firmup/
Download the latest firmware. Install it. Like the rest of the people. It seems like we all dropped it. And updating the firmware seems to help a bit.
Meaning you can now use tha Camera and take pictures, but when you turn it on, you will get the same error message for like a second. Then the Camera is back to normal.
If its under warranty take it back. And dont tell them it was dropped.
Cheers !

No flash pictures

by dropping you can damage the charging circuit of the flash unit. flash tube is the later part. it seems that the charging circuit of the camera is not working thus it hangs the camera when flash is switched on.
