Grandson borrow my dremel 400Xpr. Big mistake. This was quite a while ago. Long story short; it will not run. I live in a small town which doesn't have a dremel repair place. Any suggestions on what kind of business might be able to fix it.

My motor was turning but the flex shaft wouldn't. I took the flex shaft loose and spun it inside. Works fine now.

Hi Larry, The tool that you require parts for was discontinued many years ago. Limited parts are available from Dremel. Inside the tool is a flex coupling and spline driver. The flex coupling is # 2615294309 and the price is about $ 1.25. This is the hollow plastic sleeve about 1" long with grooves on the inside, that goes between the motor shaft and the output shaft. The spline driver is # 2615294308 for about $ 1.00. Spline driver sits on the direct end of the motor shaft. The flex coupling sits over the spline driver. Spline driver is about 1/4", hard plastic with grooves on the outside. Total shipping for orders under $ 5.00 is $ 2.50. Orders over $5.00 is $ 4.00. No.. the issue issue is the switch inside. when your Dremel 4200 stop working, press firmly the grey area between the speed selector and the brush housing. I think this a defect in the design of the 4200.

I don't know what the numbers are, but the little abrasive cut-off wheels are held on with a mandrel type bit and a screw. Make sure you get the right size wheel and the right size mandrel, they make a couple different sizes, you can't fit the small wheels on the bigger screw. Anyway, I use my cut-off wheels all the time, usually to get stubborn screws out by cutting a slot in the head and turning it out with a flat blade screw driver. The wheels will cut anything, most people scoff when I say that, but it is true, they will cut anything.

Battery is flat or has a problem, the dremel does monitor voltage/current and shutdown to prevent battery damage, failure or fire. First step is to ensure the charge is working properly.

Could be the brushes burned out. Don't panic, they are user replaceable. If you have the user guide it should explain exactly how to do it. If you don't have the guide you'll first need to get a set of replacment brushes from a larger hardware store. Make sure to get brushes for your model. On the side of the tool are black slotted caps that can be unscrewed BE CAREFUL THE SPRINGS UNDER THE SCREW CAP CAN GO FLYING. With the cap removed the old brush will fall out and can be replaced with the new one. 2 brushes, one on each side are needed. The 400XPR is a newer model so if this doen't repair it, there may be a defect in the tool.

the unit my be frozen. shut if off for 6-8 hours and make sure your filter is clean. recheck, If you then get the normal volume of air that your used to but its still not cold then it may be low on freon. also check if the unit outside is running.

If the unit is chirping your convergence amps are out again,or you have a shorted Horzontal output transistor. Not likley for horz output to go out after convergence repair. If he did not replace the 6.8 ohm resistors along with the convergence amps the convergence amps would overheat and short out again.This would explain why the corner would not adjust out. Not a very good buisness practice on his part.Here today gone tomorrow?

Anytime they blow the AC fuse you have other part/parts shorted,ck fuse resistors big white resistors on same board and hori output or any shorted diodes.
