Sharp Model R-308H or R-305H turntable won't turn

You may have a defective turntable motor, a defective turntable motor coupler, or a defective turntable roller assembly.

Could be the motor, coupling between the motor and turntable, or the controlling device (possibly a relay).

I typically find it is not door hinge issues but door switch issues, especially with sharp. You may heve a little movenent in the door hinge and that is allowing the door hook to move up and down on the plunger for a door switch that is probably a bit melted due to bad connections. If you check the door switches and look for any browning around the terminals where the wires push onto the switch you will probably find an overheated connectoion. Replace the bad switch and run better wires and better termninals to the new switch and it will probably be fine.

Without more tests, I can't be completely positive but the turntable motor is the likely problem. That is part 1-4 on the list above. However, it could be a wiring problem with the wiring to the turntable motor.

If still under warranty or if you have no electronic repair experience you should take the set back to the shop or to a repair person. Some of the solutions described below can be dangerous, TV's are very hazardous to service. Even when plugged out, TV's can store very high voltages. If you hear an unusual buzzing noise, the magnetron (the component that actually generates the microwaves) or other electronic module may be broken. If you hear nothing, you might have a defective transistor on the main printed circuit board. This is not easily fixed; contact a service technician.
