Question about Proview PL 566s 15" Flat Panel LCD Monitor
OK WE HAVE 15" OR MAYBE 14" PREVIEW MONITOR AND I?VE NEVER HAD ITS CORRECT POWER CORD FOR IT I BOUGHT IT FROM A FRIEND AND HE GAVE ME A 12VOLT 1000mA CORD FROM I THINK A CABLE MODEM OR SOMETHING AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT ITS WORKED PRETTY GOOD FOR A WHILE NOW LIKE THAT BUT IT SEEMED LIKE ITS ALWAYS BEEN TO BRIGHT AND NOW THE SCREEN IS TURNING RED ON ONE SIDE AND STARTS OUT DARKER AT FIRST BUT WITHIN A FEW MINUTES THE RED LIGHTENS UP BUT IS STILL TOTALLY NOTICEABLE AND SEEMS TO BE GETTING SLOWLY WORSE.. IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE THE BULB INSIDE MAY BE BURNING OUT.. AND THE THING THAT MAKES ME THINK THAT IS ANOTHER MONITOR I GET RECENTLY A LCD TOUCH SCREEN IT WAS TOTALLY RED AS CAN BE UNTIL I REPLACED THE BULB WITH ONE I TOOK OUT OF A BROKEN LAPTOP LCD AND ALL THE RED WENT AWAY.. ...AND SO IM JUST WONDERING IF IM SLOWLY KILLING THE MONITOR WITH THE INCORRECT CORD? THE BACK OF THE MONITOR SAYS 12VOLT 3AMP CORD AND WE ARE USING 12VOLT 1AMP CORD (UNDERPOWERED) BUT COULD LOWER AMPERAGE DO DAMAGE LIKE THAT OR IS BULB BURNING OUT? OR OTHER....THE PINK AREA IS DARKER THAN THE REST OF THE SCREEN IM NOT EXPERT BUT I HAVE WORKED ON AND REPAIRED SEVERAL LAPTOPS WITH EVERY PROBLEM FROM CHANGING CPU OR LCD AND PARTS TO REMOVING SECURITY CHIP AND SOLDERING IN NEW ONE BUT IM UNSURE OF THIS ISSUE HERE SINCE ITS PINK INSTEAD OF JUST DARK ON ONE SIDE
Chances are that you are not hurting anything with the lower power supply. What is probably happening is most likely two fold. 1. The light bulbs in the backlight circuit may just be wearing out and need replacement, and 2. the lower current power supply may not be capable of producing al the current that the monitor needs at certain times during operation. I would suggest getting hold of the correct power supply module and see where that gets you. If you still have the red outs, replace the light bulbs in the monitor. The only other fault than that would have to be in the video controller. Hope this helps.

yes it turned out to be the bulb thank you
Just a quick added note here for those people that end up here searching for answers to similar problem with the screen going pink....
I have learned since then that is is defenately the bulb that needs replacing and nothing else..
when the bulb in an LCD type monitor starts to burn out it will turn pink and then eventually die. and if it just goes dim then it is most likely inverter board giving out (but pink is the bulb itself and that can be quite the project to replace since you pretty much have to take apart the lcd itself to do so)
