After a long search, I finally found the CMOS battery of my Armada E500 where I was expecting it the least: under the power buttons bar, attached to...guess what...the inverter!

Sabrent external floppy reader is asking me to format my floppy disk. how can a format it without deleting my files on floppy disk?

Your floppy disk drive may be defective. Also, Some floppy drives are manufactured differently. Your best bet is to find another floppy drive to read your floppy disk. You can try to take it to the nearest computer store and ask them to read it for you. If they can read it at the computer store? The Sabrent drive you received if bad. If they cannot read it the floppy is bad. If the floppy is bad you can try to download free data recovery software to attempt to recover your data, files etc. Good luck

How to save a word 2007 document to be compatible with Word 97-2003

If you want to save a document to be compatible to open in word 97-2003 you cannot simply automatically save the document because it will save as a .docx. Therefore you cannot click on the disk icon at the top to save your document.

1: Go to the at the top left corner
2: Choose Save As. Another menu will appear
3: Choose Word 97-2003 Document from the list
4: Choose where to save your file.
5: After the file has been saved as a .doc you can now just press save instead of save as. You can also press on the save symbol (a floppy disk) to automatically save the file now.
Yes you can but you must download a compatibility pack from Microsoft. This will enable you to open Word 2007, PowerPoint 2007, and more in your Office 2003 program. You can also download the free Open office program. It will open .docx files already. Go to the Microsoft website to download Word viewer
And you will also need Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats.

Click on the first file listed -
t30engsq 62p9239.pdf.............English - Setup Guide for ThinkPad T30

This is a PDF file. Takes a few seconds after you click on the file name to see the first page. Also takes additional time to fully download. Suggest letting the file fully download before looking through it, or saving a copy.

If you are aware of the following please disregard;

1) The box to the right of the blue Down Arrow is the page number box.
If you know the page number you wish to go to, you can;
A) Put your mouse cursor in the box, Left-click once
B) Type the page number
C) Press the Enter key

Much faster than using the Down Arrow.

The + sign in the top header is the Zoom In icon.
The - sign is the Zoom Out icon.
Most of the time the file will be downloaded in a too large view for readily viewing.

To save a copy:
You can save a copy to a CD disk.
This way you can delete it from your computer, and save Harddrive space, and have the file anytime you wish.

Left-click on the Floppy Disk icon.
The Floppy Disk icon is in the top header, and is the second icon from the left.
If you hover your mouse cursor over the Floppy Disk icon, it will briefly reveal,
"Click to save this file to your computer or another location"

After you click on the Floppy Disk icon a small window will come up.
Save a copy...
At the top of the Save a copy window you will see a box with - Save in: to the left.
In the box is stated where the file will download to.

I would put the file in My Documents.
Click on the blue Down Arrow to the right of the box, then click on My Documents in the list.

Down at the bottom of the Save a copy window is the File name: box.
You will see - t30ensq_62p9239.pdf in the box.
You can add to this file name to make it easier for you to find.

Put your mouse cursor in the box right after the f in .pdf
Left-click twice.
Type ThinkPad T30 Setup Guide.

Now go to the bottom of the Save a copy window, and click on Save.

To find, and open the file:
Click on Start> Double-click on My Documents > Click on the file name

The Acer Aspire X1300 User's Guide is the first file listed.

This file is a PDF file. The computer you are using has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.

I was givin a brother printer HL-5200 and have no idea how it works.don't even know where to put the paper? can anyone help?

How about downloading the User's Guide for it?
This is Brother Support, and the Download Manuals and Documentation page,

http://www.brother-usa.com/Manuals/Default.aspx?WT.cg_n=Support&WT.cg_s=Manuals

You will need the exact model of HL-5200.
Click the blue down arrow, to the right of the box that has -> Select your model <-, in it.
Scroll the slider down, and click on your model number.

I chose the HL-5240 for an example.
The downloads page has Users Manual-English listed, under the Your Results heading.
It is a PDF file download. The computer you're using now has Adobe Reader on it, and Adobe Reader uses PDF files.

After you click on Users Manual-English, you may not see anything happening right away. Be patient, as the PDF file is downloading to your computer.
It may take as much as 30 seconds.
WAIT, until it has Fully downloaded before looking through it.

I don't know if your familiar with PDF files. You can save them to your computer. This way you won't have to go through downloading it again, and can copy it to CD disk. You'll always have a Users Manual available this way.

To save this PDF file to your computer:

AFTER the file has Fully downloaded, go up to the top header, and click on the Floppy Disk icon. The Floppy Disk icon is the second icon from the left. Hovering your mouse cursor on it will briefly reveal, "Click to save this file to your computer or another location"

After you click on the Floppy Disk icon another small window will come up. -> Save a copy:
At the bottom of the Save a copy window is a box, with File name:, to the right of it. You will see something like c00345897.pdf in the File name:, box.
Unless you feel like looking around for that number/letter combo, try this:

Put your mouse cursor right after the -> f, in .pdf
Left-click Twice. Now make one space with your spacebar. Type -> Brother HL-5200 User Manual. (You of course will type in THE model number, instead of HL-5200)
This makes it much easier to find, huh?

If you do not have your downloads set to download to your My Documents folder,(Start>My Documents), this file will go to your desktop screen.
When you see it in either place, just double-click on it to open it.

NOT FORMATTED

The error means 3 things:

1. Files format of the files saved on the Floppy disk is not readable on the OS or does not comply with the file format of the OS. So you really need to format it.

2. The floppy disk is brand new and you need to format it first.

3. The floppy disk is not working. Try a known working floppy disk.
